Do you write for publication? What markets? Use market guides? Which ones? |
Hi, everyone! This is just the place I need right now! (side note: is it a bad sign that I accidentally wrote "write now" and had to change it?) I recently completed a 41k word novella that I'd really like to get published somehow. But the problem is, it's 41k. Too short for every print publisher I've looked at, by around 9000 words. Someone mentioned e-publishing to me, and I've looked into it, but, well, frankly I'm somewhat distrustful. It sounds ridiculously easy to lose money in e-publishing, since there's nothing except the buyer's sense of ethics to stop him or her from making hundreds of copies and distributing them. Also, it just doesn't seem likely to me that e-publishing would get many sales. Basically, I'm paranoid. Does anyone have experience with e-publishing? If so, can you tell me about it? I do want to publish my novella, but I don't want to condemn it to something I know nothing about and don't fully trust yet. On a related note, does anyone know of any print market that might accept a 41k manuscript? I haven't found any, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything. Thanks, and I'm glad to have found this forum! By the way, if anyone has asked these questions before, sorry for the repeat! Firedrake
