P.S. What would constitute a "bad experience"?

The only ones I think are likely with Lulu are:

1) Erroneous expectations of what POD is or isn't.

2) Technical difficulty (very little is done FOR you, so I highly recommend you format your book and create your own PDF, and know a little bit about what you're doing).

3) Impatience with the occasional technical glitch (when you think about the fact that, in theory, you can publish your book on Lulu in a matter of hours - whereas it could take 4-6 months for a publisher to accept your manuscript, and another year or so before it hits bookstore shelves - a little patience with the occasional problem is warranted). You can scan through the Lulu forums to see what kinds of problems people have had, and how well or quickly they've been resolved. It's not a perfect process, but find me one that is.
