My favorite books have always included The Holy Bible by The LORD Jesus Christ, The Chronicles of Narnia by C. S. Lewis, The Hobbit & The Lord of the Rings by J. R. R. Tolkien as well as Hinds Feet on High Places by Hannah Hurnard.

Poetry has been a very strong part of my writing career. It started, when I was about 13 years old. As most teenagers experience at one time or another, there was a girl, that I thought was really cute. I liked her a lot, but she didn't like me in that same way.

Having heard somewhere, that poetry was good for expressing emotions in order to "get them out to lessen the hurt," I tried to write my first poem, called, "My Heart." In it I expressed the thought, "When I think of her my heart leaps, but when I think of reality, my heart falls to Earth and smashes into thousands of little pieces. Then, I pick up my heart and put it into my pocket." At least that is the gist of the poem. (As soon as I can find it, again, I will edit this post, reposting the original.)

The point is that I felt a lot better after writing that poem. So, I prayed then and there, "GOD, if you will give me the ability to write poems, then I will use them for Your Glory..." To the best of my ability, I have always tried to do this. The LORD has never failed me, and He has forgiven me so many times for failing Him. The LORD Jesus Christ of Nazareth is the focus of my heart, and His will is the one about which I care the most.

Through the years, I have written in many different ways in many different venues and for many different reasons.

As a senior in high school I wrote the account of our marching band, getting a Superior rating at marching competition. It is archived in our senior annual.

I wrote as the Religion Op-Ed Director in The Tallahassean weekly newspaper in Tallahassee, Florida for a couple of years back in the 1990s.

As a radio announcer as WPEG in Thomasville, Georgia, I sold ads, wrote my own copy and produced my own commercials.

For a number of years I wrote poetry, flash fiction and scientific instructional pieces for Helium-d-Com, before finding WDC after Helium disbanded.

Just prior to opening my account with Writing.Com, I finished a nearly two and a half year stretch of teaching ESL one-on-one to students in China with a school, based in China. Isn't the internet a wonderful tool!
