Forum to enter brainstorming ideas and short scenarios for when the muse takes a vacation.
EMOTIONAL BRAIN STORMING

Think of an emotion and a few poignant or funny scenarios.  Pick one and write a poem about it-do it as a letter to someone (a lover perhaps), or a philosophical thought, a comic scenario, or even a children’s poem.

1. EMBARASSMENT/HUMILIATION:

Talking to someone, even introducing them to your family, and realizing (on the way home) you thought they were somebody else.

You write a note to a friend about the boy you like, and it’s intercepted …..by the boy you like.

Your toupee is askew when you check in the mirror….after you finished your first date with a beautiful woman.

Someone makes a joke and at your expense …..and you are not laughing.

We’ve all been embarrassed.  I’m sure you have better examples.  {c}

2. EGOS AND SAVING FACE:

Making a scene in front of loved ones or friends, slamming the door behind you, and realizing you left your keys (or whatever else you need) in the room with those who witnessed your little hissy fit.

Harboring anger against someone (or feeling guilty about what you did) for months or years and learning later that they didn’t know you existed or had not even felt slighted by you.

You’re at the high dive among friends and are about to chicken out, then a six year old asks if you are afraid to jump……right before doing a fearless cannonball right before your eyes and you know you have to do it ….or else.

3. LONELINESS/SOLITUDE:

Being lonely in a crowd, feeling dejected and self-conscious, thinking of high school and how it stinks that you’re an adult you still resent the homecoming queen.

Sitting at a table, by yourself, book and tablet along for the ride.  The restaurant is crowded but you are at home with your writing and your book, enjoying the solitude.

Being alone…and lonely… and wondering when this will end or what you can do about it.  Wishing everyone else would quit worrying about you but fearing that they will.

4. FRUSTRATION:

You’re in a foreign country and no one understands you, nor do you understand them.

You speak the same language but you and another just keep missing the point.

You’re late for work and thirty geese (deer, moose, train, etc) are crossing the road at a snail’s pace.  And if you hadn’t checked your email on WDC before you left, you wouldn’t be in this mess to start with.  Lol.

You’re trying to change your kid’s diaper and he’s thrashing about, refusing to cooperate.  And, you’re late for work and, if that isn’t bad enough, he tinkles on your pantleg.  (okay, I’m getting a bit extreme here but those of you with sons, you know what I mean.)

You finally get clean, sober, back on meds, grow-up, etc. and your loved ones are still treating you like an irresponsible kid.  (which you may still be, but that’s just not the point, right).

You’re irresponsible, addicted, (name the adjective) spouse, parent, kid, (or other relation) promises you they won’t (fill in the sin here) anymore and you almost start to believe them when……(again, fill in the sin) happens again.

5. IRRITABILITY/ANGER:

See FRUSTRATION list above, then have that happen with only 2-3 hours of sleep the night before.  This equals irritability.

You’re a woman and you have a visitor.  You know what I mean.  Or you are married to it during that week or the three weeks preceding.  OR you are  woman who is legitimately ticked off about something and your spouse attributes your mood to the visitor rather than to the fact that they refuse to pick up after themselves (or other marital infraction).

You are playing a computer game (or trying to turn in your WDC entry five minutes before the deadline) and your spouse or kids “NEED” you.  When you get to them, they say “just kidding” or the thing they needed was not an emergency.

You’re just plain MAD.  Be it road rage, cheating spouses, kid wrecks your car (and is okay), spouse or kid washes your favorite white shirt with a bright red (brand new) t-shirt, etc.

WHAT OTHER EXAMPLES CAN YOU THINK OF?  THESE ARE JUST SOME OF THE MORE BOTHERSOME EMOTIONS THAT OFTEN PROMPT US TO WRITE OR FEEL STRONGLY.  FEEL FREE TO ADD SOME MORE POSITIVE ONES IF YOU’D LIKE.

PUT THEM IN THE MESSAGE FORUM BELOW FOR OTHERS TO READ WHEN THEY NEED INSPIRATION.

When you are done, share your work with us and tell us which prompt you used.  Feel free to use what others have put in the forum or drop by and leave your own idea or emotion on the forum.

thanks for participating.
