great love gone bad.
[Introduction]
We all fall in love but sometimes who we love becomes who we fear most, but for Edyth she didn’t expect for her newfound love to turn overnight. Edyth Cheyenne Montague was the daughter of Lord Franklin Montague and Lady Elisabeth Montague. She was born September 13 of 1893. She was her parents only child because her mother had suddenly fallen ill with a disease that left her barren and unable to conceive another child. Edyth was 16 years old when she met 19 year old Prince Edward Hobbes son of King Eadwig Hobbes and Queen Adelia Hobbes but she was yet to discover that he would become everything that she never wanted.
The two lost souls of Edyth of Edward found each other on one beautiful spring afternoon in March of 1909. Edyth was on her way to the town market to purchase the ingredients for supper that was to be prepared that evening. As she was walking towards the market she caught a glimpse of the admirable Prince Edward as he was working as a clerk in the market. In hesitation she continued towards the market for Edward had taken her breath away. As she entered the market she noticed that Edward could not keep his eyes to himself. She quickly gathered the ingredients and proceeded to the counter to pay for them. As he is bagging her items Edyth notices that he has dropped one of them. They both proceed to pick up what he had dropped but they suddenly lock eyes. “Prince Edward Hobbes” he proceeds to say to her. Edyth smirks and replies “Edyth Montague.” Edyth gathers her bags and leaves the market and heads for home. The entire way home she couldn’t stop thinking of the pulchritudinous boy she had just seen at the market. Edward realizes that he too could not get the ravishing young woman out of his head.
As night falls Edyth realizes that she has yet to get the young man out of her head. The family sits down to partake of the evening supper when her father notices that Edyth is distracted. “Is the supper not to your liking my dear child” asked Lord Montague. Edyth replies as she quickly emerges from her daydream “No father, the food is quite delicious if i may say.” Something seems to be troubling you this evening my dear, may i ask what it be” says her father as he cuts into his portion of roast. “Father, how shall i know when i have met someone that i am intrigued by?” Edyth replies. “Oh my dear Edyth I knew this day would soon come upon us.” her mother interceded. “Excuse my dear ladies as i retire to the smoking room for a stogie” her father interjected. “Mother, how did you know that you and father were meant to be?” Edyth asked curiously. Her mother looked puzzled “Why do you ask my darling?” “I had an encounter with the king's son at the market today” Edyth quickly replied. “Really my lass, What kind of encounter? Elisabeth asked. “We looked into each other's eyes while grabbing the item he dropped.” Edyth said. “Well may i ask why that would trouble you my dear?” Her mother replied curiously. “I just can’t seem to stop thinking of him.” She replied. “Well have you phoned him?” Mother replied. “Mother, I could scantily speak to him at the market, I can’t phone him.” Edyth says while she chuckles softly. “Just phone him my child, the king's number is next to the telephone” Elisabeth said as she gathered the dishes from the table. Elisabeth gives Edyth a slight peck on the head “Goodnight my dear lass, get some rest.” “Goodnight mother” Edyth replied.
Edyth awakens from her nights rest and starts toward the dining hall for morgenmete. As she sat down at the table her mother looked at her curiously “Did you phone him my dear child?” “No mother.” She replied. Her mother walks over toward the phone and dials King Eadwigs number, but Queen Adelia answered. “Hello…” Lady Elisabeth replied “Hello Queen Adelia, this is Lady Elisabeth. Is Prince Edward in” “Eddwwaarrdd” Queen Adelia called for Edward. Elisabeth motioned for Edyth to come to the telephone. “Hello?” Edward said over the phone. Edyth hesitated but replied “Um.. Hello.” “Your mother called my mother?” Edward replied. “Yes mother would like to invite you for a morgenmete Sunday morning,” Edyth shakingly replied. “She would?” Edward asked. “Yes, mother is preparing muffins and she would be delighted if you came.” Edyth replied. “Muffins sound delightful, indubitably i shall come!” Edward exclaimed. “I shall see you on Sunday morning Mr. Hobbes.” Edyth stated. “I shall be there Ms. Montague. Edward chuckled.
3 days pass and Edyth grows more overwrought everyday that Sunday comes closer. Edyths father asked her to go to the market to pick up some juice for his meeting this evening. Edyth does not want to go but she shall go against her father's wishes. Edyth puts on her day dress and heads to the market when she catches a glimpse of Edward again. She hesitates to go inside, for she is very distressed about seeing Edward again before morgenmete on Sunday morning. She quickly heads into the market without looking towards Edward but she cannot circumvent him anymore because she has to pay for her items. “Good morning Ms. Montague” Prince Edward said. “How do you do Mr. Hobbes?” Edyth grabbed her bags and skittered out of the market. Edyth makes it home and lays upon her father the juice and quickly heads for her room upstairs. Sunday morning arrives fast and Edyth is overwrought about heading downstairs but she does anyway. “Good morning my dear Edyth.” Her father said as she walked downstairs. “Good morning father, good morning mother” She looks at Edward nervously “G..g..good morning Prince Edward.” “Top of the morning to you Ms. Montague.” Everyone sits down to eat and the silence is awkward, Edward finishes his muffins and says, “I am terribly sorry to retire from this morgenmete but I have work to attend to.” “Indubitably, please attend to your work.” Lord Montague states.
Monday morning comes and Edyths slumber is disrupted by her telephone ringing. “Hello?” She answers “Yes I was wondering if you would like to have lunch with me in the town on this beautiful day Ms. Montague” The man on the phone asked. “Might i ask who this may be?” Edyth replied. “Prince Edward Hobbes m'lady.” Prince Edward replied. “Why yes Mr. Hobbes I would love to have lunch with you” Edyth happily replied. “Where's your best dress Ms. Montague.” Edward stated. “I’ll put on pearls sir Edward.” Edyth replied. Edyth met Edward for lunch on the town and she was having the time of her life until she saw her father while they were on the way back to her house. Edyth is not supposed to leave the house when her parents aren’t home. “Edyth...Edyth is that you my dear?” Her father called in the distance. Edyth knew she would have to tell her father that she had left the house against her father's wishes. “Yes father, I’m having lunch with Prince Edward” Edyth replied to her father's call. “Indeed my dear, be cautious out here,” Replied Lord Montague. Edyth was surprised that her father wasn’t angry. The two continued their lunch. “I think you’re breathtakingly beautiful Ms. Montague” Edward said to Edyth. Edyth looked up surprised and replied. “Well Mr. Hobbes, I think you yourself are very admirable.” Edward and Edyth stared into eachothers eyes until Edyth spoke up “I would like to go home now Mr. Hobbes” Edward replies “Your wish is my command Ms. Montague.” Edward takes Edyth home and gives her a kiss on the cheek “Gooday Ms. Montague” he says as he walks away. Edyth is surprised that Edward kissed her.
Edyth and Edward would hang out everyday for hours on end. September came around and it’s now Edyths birthday. Edward has something very special planned for her birthday. All Edyth knows is that she is going on a picnic with the prince for her birthday. Edward took Edyth to a lake right outside of town, she was mesmerized by the scenery. “Edyth.” Edward called out. Edyth turned around to find Edward on one knee. Edyth starts to cry. “Edyth, for seven months i have dated you and I realized that you are the lady I want to be my princess. So Edyth Cheyenne Montague, will you marry me?” Edward asked. “Yes, Yes, Yes! Edyth exclaimed. Both of their families came out from the woods and started screaming in excitement. Everything was perfect, so Edyth thought.
Edyth and Edwards wedding day came faster than she expected. The wedding was perfect. Everyone came and celebrated with them. After the wedding was over Edyth and Edward left for the honeymoon. Edyth was the happiest she had ever been all because she went to the market one day. 8 weeks had passed since the honeymoon and they were getting ready to head back home when Edyth felt sick. She rushes to the restroom and starts to vomit. “Are you okay my dear'' Edward asked. “Yes i will be okay” Edyth replied. They went home and were living the perfect life except Edyth could not stop getting sick. Edyth called her mother in fear she was ill “Mother i have gotten sick everyday since the honeymoon.” Edyth said worryingly. “You may need to see the doctor my dear” her mother replied. Edyth decided that seeing the doctor would be the best choice. The doctor made a visit to Edyth and Edward. “Well Mr. and Mrs, Hobbes it looks like you will be parents.” The doctor told them. Edward looked angry and then stormed out of the house. Edyth was excited. She had always wanted a child but it seems Edward had other plans. Two hours had passed and there was no call from Edward. He walked in the house as Edyth was preparing supper “Where have you been?” Edyth asked Edward. “Out. I’m not hungry dear, i think i’m going to lay down” Edward replied. Edward knew he couldn’t be a father. Edyth finished eating her supper and headed for bed. “You should not have left like that. We need to discuss this'' Edyth said while she was getting in bed. “We can talk tomorrow.” Edward turned his light off and rolled over in bed. Edward seemed to be upset at Edyth. He avoided talking to her for days and weeks. Edyth knew that this isn’t how a marriage works. Edyth noticed Edward slowly changing. He was no longer the clerk from the market that she fell in love with. Months pass and Edward will barely talk to Edyth and their baby is growing bigger and bigger every day. “You’re gaining a lot Edyth. You should slow down.” Edward spoke to her for the first time in days. Edyth started to tear up and put her food down as she walked up to bed. She no longer feels beautiful. Edward is falling out of love with Edyth but she loves him the same as she always has.
The time comes for Edyth to give birth to their dear child and Edward isn’t exactly happy about it. Edyth bears a beautiful baby boy that they named James Henry Hobbes. Edward wasn’t happy about the child but he was happy to see his baby boy being born. Edyth still has a lot of the weight from the baby and Edward isn’t happy about it. The time comes for them to leave for home and Edward barely speaks one word to Edyth. Edyth is very stressed due to just having a child and pretty much caring for him on her own. Edward doesn’t stay home much anymore and when he is home he is just in bed or out in the back working in the shed. Edyth falls ill after James is only 6 weeks old. She can’t do as much anymore. She has stopped eating to make Edward love her again. She cannot walk due to weakness. She has changed herself only to make her husband happy. Edward has fallen out of love with Edyth. She was no longer the ravishing 16 year old he had met at the market in the Spring of 1909. Edward starts drinking and spending every penny he gets at the local pub. Edyth needs things for their baby but is afraid of how her once admirable husband may respond. “James is out of nappies” Edyth tells Edward. “I’ll pick some up when I go out,” Edward replies. “We have no pounds left due to you being at the pub every night.” Edyth says to Edward. Edward stands up in front of Edyth and says angrily “What i do is not your concern Ms. Montague.” Edyth notices how he is calling her “Ms. Montague”. Edward leaves to go get nappies for their child but what happened next was Edyths worst fear. On August 18 1910 Edward Hobbes left his beloved home town and left his dear wife and child with it.
