He sat under the stars, thinking. Reese Elwood wasn't alone. Darkness consumed the night..
[Introduction]
An overwhelming skunk smell filled the air; Reese stood. He was a skinny 28 year-old from Louisiana. His brown hair wrapped around his odd shaped head like a cone, he wore wired framed glasses with the nose taped. Resse brushed the seat of his pants, looked out in the distance, a red flash of light hit the ground like a bolt of lightening. Fire erupted on the horizon; it was as if the sun exploded. Keeping his eyes on the shimmering light he walked backwards to his father's old 72' blue Ford pick-up; the faded body almost looked white. Reese opened the driver side door, eased into the seat, and started the engine. Leaning forward like and elderly person struggling to see the road, Reese pounded down on the gas pedal and drove toward bright light. Then, darkness. The world went black, Reese's truck cutoff and drifted to a stop on the woodland trail road. The small town of Wilston was emersed into a thick haze of bleak shadow.
