About the power of music.
[Introduction]
Everyone has a song. It might be from your childhood, it might be something you heard on a college radio station while you were stoned at 2:30 in the morning. Perhaps it has an emotional connotation that keeps it timeless and universal for you. Or maybe it changes depending on the mood your in. Maybe you hated the song when you first heard it. You may have even been forced to like it by a girlfriend or boyfriend. Then again, it could have been love at first chord progression. You could have formed an instant connection with the lyrics or the guitar solo which lasted the last 15 seconds of the tune. It doesn't matter if one or even all of the above apply, the naked truth remains the same. Everyone has a song.

The power of music is highly underestimated (and unappreciated) in this world of instant gratification. People can't just take the time to really listen, reflect, and form their own opinion on what they have just heard. Most of today's music is produced from the bowels of a corporation who doesn't give a damn about anything except for the money in their off-shore bank account. Most artists that are seen as "popular" by the newer generations don't even have a minor role in lyrical content or the composing of the instrumentals. I'll even go as far to say that more than half of these "vocal idols" don't deserve to be on stage! It's disgustingly tragic. They just don't care, as long as they have an iron-clad recording contract, anything goes.

Real music...or shall I say really good music, is dirty. It's gritty and raw, and so painfully true it makes you want to scream out loud! Real music makes you want to get up and dance until your heart explodes, makes you want to throw your middle fingers up in the air and stick it to all those who piss you off. It should transport your imagination, your soul and sing along in the most beautifully obnoxious way. It's your kind of music, it's your song!

Many of us are busy in this day in age. We are constantly on the go and have very little time to ourselves. But I challenge you to re-discover music, and re-visit your song that has been collecting dust on your CD shelf or in your iTunes library. I'm challenging you...take the day off from work and dust off your stereo. Get up and dance around your living room in your underwear if that's how it makes you feel! If taking off from work isn't an option, test the structural integrity of your vehicle on your daily commute. Blast that song and rock and sing along so hard that people in front of you will have in-car entertainment streaming to them via rear-view mirror. Trust me, it's worth it!

Call it amazing, you could even call it pure magic...music has the power to change moods, fire up imaginations, dry tears, and even start mosh pits. Music is absolutely incredible, and it can speak to your soul if you let it. All it takes is a little time out of your day and a little effort in sifting through playlists and albums. I can't tell you what to look for, but you will know when you find it. You just have to trust me on this.

Keep music alive!
