What happens when you submerge your arm in acid?
[Introduction]
I see blood without pain.
I slide my arm out from the barrel of acid; to find that most of the skin had in fact melted and broken up like a half chewed sausage skin.
I held it up in front of myself and a few meaty chunks of flesh dropped off and plopped back into the barrel.
I tried to work my mangled hand, and to my surprise three of my fingers worked quite well, but the thumb was just a shiny clean pointed bone jutting out the side in a peculiar angle.
The skin came away easily after I managed to claw my good fingers underneath; it simply peeled away like a rotten banana skin.
With my arm dangling and swinging to my side I walked over to the meat cleaver on the butchers block.
While holding the cleaver firmly in my good left hand, I rested the red bloody mess of my other arm across the block.
The Acid from the barrel had almost eaten through to the bone in most areas, and melted veins were acting like tiny hose pipes spraying across the kitchen walls.
It took three weighty hacks with the cleaver before the arm came completely free just below the elbow joint.
I stood for a while and looked at the severed mess of my right arm. It was surprising just how much blood kept coming. In no time at all I was standing in a huge puddle which spread out across the tiled floor like a devouring plague across the tiles.
A wave of dizziness came over me, and I began to see tiny stars winking on and off in front of my eyes.
I decided to sit down in the blood and watch my arm for a while. I was becoming sleepy now. I lay with my back on the sticky kitchen floor looking up at the ceiling in front of me.
The ceiling was horribly tobacco stained and I thought to myself “I really should paint that one day!” I heard a small child giggle somewhere, and then I drifted off to sleep.
