As we look blankly at the campfire,
All we see is embers,
All we hear is crackling noises,
As we look deelpy into the campfire,
We can see long lost ancestors and the stories they had to tell us,
Joanie looked into the campfire once,
She saw her great great great aunt being accused for womens rights,
She also saw her great great great grandma being beaten as a slave
What she couldnt believe is what she saw of her parents,
Her mom being told that she had to act a certain way because she was white,
Her dad being told that he should stand up for himself because he was black,
What she couldnt believe is what her grandma said when she told her mom he couldn't marry her dad because he was black,
She looks blankly into the campfire and no longer sees embers or hears crackling noises.
