A poem I wrote between swinging, dreams, and flying |
[Introduction]
(Just a poem I wrote) The swing set is my savior tonight Stretching my long legs forward towards the cloudy sky Then swinging back, I lean back looking up at the clouds The dizzying effect makes me laugh out loud My music is dancing along to my life, though I am still It fills my ears, bringing this moment color and life Powered by the small electronic device A stronghold for so many pieces of myself For a moment, I can believe, I am the catalyst that this world crowds around I am the gravity, my love is the gravity I pull myself closer deeper into myself And I huddle there feeling somehow warm I invite in the memories, I hold people I care about in my head I play with the emotions that come with them Willing them to take flight with me I prod playfully at all my dreams I wear them on the surface when I swing Then I push them out into the sky Willing them to grow wings and fly ahead of me I will meet them someday Memories flush in and out, as I swing back and forth There is a boy in my life, who is like a swing set Taking me high, making me laugh And I am the kid that falls, but I don’t mind God whispers in the air that rushes through my hair He has painted this moment for me The secret is, all I have to do is start pumping And I will indeed be able to fly And this will not be hard It’s as easy as childs play |
