NAME: Aura Mongomery
DISCRIPTION: Flowing, shiny, silver-white hair. Her eyes are usually grey, but when she uses her power her eyes turn bright silver. She is in her early 20's.
ABOUT: A level-headed woman. Aura is heir to the Wind Kingdom.
She has a strong bond with her mother.
One night unexplainable dreams & nightmares forces Aura to go on a journey to find the reason for her dreams. There are many obstacles she has to face plus the heartache for leaving her mother. The best friend she ever had.
“I never agreed to this!” A twenty year old young woman screamed. Her shoulder-length, straight red hair seemed lit with her anger, along with her intense golden eyes. Nostrils flared, knuckles white, and a frustrated stare directed at a beautiful middle aged woman, drowned in rubies.

“Jayna, dear, you must hear me out!” The middle aged woman was trying to keep her cool.

“Hear me out, first!” She shot back in anger. “I am not going to put on that clown dress, just to prove I’m worthy!”

“You need to prove your fit for the job to come! Jayna, my daughter, I am afraid for you. You may not have what it takes to rule, to have the strength, the power.”

“So you dress me ridiculously for a crazed, maddening ball tonight?” Jayna could hardly see that logic.

“To impress the Princes... You know how important this is to me!” Her mother was always the sensitive one. She picked up her red and gold dramatic dress, and sat next to her daughter on the bed, the small golden bells jingling around her neck.
She looked so beautiful, Jayna thought. Why couldn’t she look like that? Her light orange hair pulled up into the most complicated, yet somehow natural hair style. The huge, puffy bright red dress, lined with gold ribbons and bells complimented her curves. And the crown, Jayna thought with love and hate. That golden crown perched on her head, that flames dance on, rubies dangle from, light seemed to come off it even in complete darkness; would be hers sooner than she wanted.
Daughter of Queen Lora, heir to the throne, the rightful soon-to-be ruler of the Fire Kingdom, Jayna was very important to a lot of people. Her soon-to-be followers would be at this ball.
Oh, and the Princes! Jayna thought with disgust. The Princes, sons of King Jacob, the man of many wives, are the rightful soon-to-be rulers of a middle sized village on the edge of the Fire Kingdom’s borders. They were going to try to get more power by marrying Jayna.
“You don’t have to marry anyone you don’t want to.” Lora said soothingly, like she knows what she was thinking. “It’s just that… Killian is the only piece of land we don’t rule, and it would make us, even that little bit, stronger. But, marriage later, fabulous ball now. What do you say?”
She hated her life. Jayna snatched the red dress off of her mother’s lap, and stormed off to another room to get changed.

The Ball Room was flowing with life, and not just from the lots of people. There were thousands, maybe millions of different sized candles lining the walls, served as center pieces for the tables, planted on ceiling chandeliers and floor lamps. The ceiling was painted with gods and goddesses, stars and suns, and walls dressed in brilliant fire colored fabrics; oranges, reds, and yellows threaded into exotic designs. But the most wonderful feeling felt from inside the room, was the magic. But where was it coming from? Who was it?
A shadow moved toward the lit room cautiously. He shut his eyes tight against the brightness the candles held. After a minute or two he fluttered his eyes open to seek out who he was feeling. Someone in this room seemed to jump out at him, but if only he knew who!
It was in the middle of the festivity and the people who were going to come were all here. Nobody can be this late for a formal ball such as this. It was a full house. The expensive dresses and tuxedoes made him have to look at his own clothing. A slightly worn black shirt and shaded pants, along with a black leather coat that he always wore. His father gave it to him, it looked so old fashioned, but elegant enough to pass through the crowd.
His maroon eyes scanned the corners, crowds, tables buffets, everywhere. He became very nervous. Some of the popular common people seemed to recognize him from somewhere. Probably from wondering around as he does every night, but their stares seemed suspicious.
He jerked his eyes back and forth, here and there. Where was it? He kept asked himself. Who the hell is it? He became dizzy, his stomach tightened, and he remembered that he hadn’t eaten in a little less than three days. He looked around at the buffets, but none would savor his hunger. He sat down on a cherry wooden chair, carved with flames. He put his elbow on the laced table fabric and cradled his head on his hand. He took deep breathes and shut his eyes.
The room seemed to stop moving and the sounds became more bearable. His eyes opened and there she was, the girl he’s been searching for.
She was wearing a slightly puffy dress that was orange and red, with threads of thin golden ribbon falling from her waist down. A belt of flaming red waves spun around her waist and she wore a orange and yellow corset. Her flaming red hair was pulled into a bun with golden thin ribbons. She looked like the candle flame itself. He had to talk to her.
The girl, that must have been about twenty, faced him and they looked at each other eye to eye. With golden eyes, and fair skin, he knew this was her. He stood up, ran his fingers through his black hair, and walked towards the Fire Girl.

Jayna caught the gaze of a total stranger. Not wearing blue, like the Princes, but black. His pale skin and red eyes seemed to unevenly match his jet black hair and dark clothes. She raised an eyebrow and waited until he was three feet away.
“Who are you?” she asked strictly.

“Kendrick Auburn. And you must be…?” He asked expectantly.

“Princess of the Fire Kingdom, the only daughter of Queen Lora.” Jayna recited, remembering her mother’s advice to remind people who is, and will be.
Kendrick’s mouth opened slightly, like he hadn’t expected that. She raised her eyebrow again.

“Uh, your majesty…” He coughed. “May I know your real name?”

Jayna gave a short laugh, no one after knowing that she was the Princess wanted to disturb her with such mundane questions. She enjoyed this. “Jayna Embyr.” She answered with a smile. Kendrick bowed.
“Where are you from?” Jayna asked.

“From the Water Kingdom… Sorry, were you expecting me to be one of your followers?”

“Thank goodness you’re not!” Jayna blurted.

“I don’t please you?” He asked with mock disappointment. Jayna laughed, how to answer? “Would you like to walk with me?” Kendrick asked before she could answer.
Jayna looked down at her heels and long dress.
“Oh.” Kendrick said. Jayna could see the disappointment in his face.

“Stay right here, I’ll be back.” She turned and headed toward her mother.

“Mother, I’m going out for a walk with one of the Princes.” Jayna told her mother when she got to the main table. “May I change?”

“With whom?” Her mother asked her excitedly.

She thought of the first Prince she met tonight. “Prince Leo. He is really fascinating. Now, may I change?” Her mother nodded in approval and asked one of the servants to help her choose something decent.

Jayna met with Kendrick outside the Castle wearing a simple green shirt and plain white pants. Her servant choose an orange day dress with red frilly flowers and lace. She changed after the servant left.
The fresh, clean, non-scented night air was heaven to her. After spending the whole day into the candle infested room, the scents were starting to make her sick.
But the darkness almost scared her. There was no light, no moon. Clouds were moving fast and heavy over the dark night sky. She panicked. She never thought the night would seem so dangerous, so evil. It seemed dead at night, she suddenly hated it.
“Uh, can we go somewhere else?” Jayna asked franticly, and a little loud from fright.

“What’s wrong?” Kendrick asked beside her. She stopped walking and faced him and almost gasped. His eyes seemed to come so clearly in the dark showing red beaming eyes in the pitch black, while the rest of him was lost into the darkness. But who was she to judge? She once met a girl with blue skin.
She couldn’t say she was afraid of the dark, so instead said “Never mind, I don’t know. So, where do you want to go?”

“I'm not sure. But it would be easier if we can see. Huh?” He said almost expectantly.

“Yea… should we get a candle or something?”

He looked disappointed. “Um, let’s get something to eat.”

“Sure, I know the perfectly lit place!” She took a deep breath as she walked fast toward the near village.
She could feel the warmth and brightness from the giant fireplace already. She was heading toward the Fire Fly, where there were drinks, food and fire. She wanted the light from The Fire Fly, not the food. Fire, Jayna thought, all she wanted right now is fire.

Just then, before Jayna and Kendrick could go anywhere, three Fire Kingdom warriors ran up the road leading into the castle.
"Please make way. Make way. This is an emergency; we must speak with the Queen." The three ran into the castle yelling this line over and over to get people out of the way. Jayna saw, upon closer inspection, that two of the three were carrying something rapped in cloth on a stretcher. Jayna felt a scene of dread when she saw the stretcher. "Come on, we have to-" she started to say to Kendrick but when she looked for him he was gone. She looked all around her but couldn't find any trace of him. Jayna turned to face the castle when she realized that the noise had all but vanished. "Maybe he went inside after them," she thought and ran inside to see what the emergency was. When she made it inside what she saw made her heart stop.

The three men had brought the stretcher in front of Queen Lora's throne. They pulled the cloth off to reveal the dead body of the Fire Kingdom's most loyal and powerful general, General Mikal. When they saw the body, people of water, fire, earth, and wind like, all fell silent. The four kingdoms knew Mikal as one of the greatest men in history. Strong, brave, loyal, he was the perfect soldier. So, to see such a great man lying dead on his back was enough to scare anyone.

Aura sighed sadly as she stood on a lonely steep hill before her kingdom. It was the great wind kingdom that she was born and raised on. Though she was a heir to the great king and queen, the only thing she did was breathing, talking, eating, sleeping, and….. well existing basically.
However one night Aura had a frightening nightmare. She couldn’t figure why she was having these dreams or why they kept occurring. So one night after she excused herself from dinner, Aura went to her room to pack. “I have to go find an answer for these dreams.” Aura thought as she packed her dress robes.
The wind blew gently through her open window poofing up her silver hair. Aura smiled. The good thing in this kingdom was a hidden power no one knew she had: Wind powers. Aura couldn’t tell anyone…not even her mother even though it killed her inside. Aura and her mother had a tight bond to each other. Every time the king went out of town they would secretly go to the shops and spend crazy money. Aura giggled at the funny memory.
Then with a quick motion she tied her bag and headed to the window. At first she hesitated as thoughts rushed through her mind. “Where will you go? What will the Queen do? Would they send the guards? Will I survive?!” Finally with great bravery she jumped out the window, landing on her feet. Aura ran as fast as she could not looking back at her beautiful.

General Mikal and Jayna were really close. He was like the father her mother refused to have. Jayna would complain about her ‘duties’ as princess, and Mikal would explain that she shouldn’t complain in the first place. She had what most people would die over. Well I would die just to get away from it, she always thought. General Mikal also taught her some fighting strategies, and the balance of anger and peace. Jayna never understood that one, but general Mikal seemed to try very hard to make her understand.
As Jayna always does, she forgets what he told her about adjusting her anger and went crazy in the crowd.
“Who’s done this?!” Jayna demanded before her mother could utter a word. The whole room went quiet and still as Queen Lora searched for her daughter. Jayna moved her way to the throne and looked at the three warriors in question. She shook with fury. Her knuckles were white and fingernail marks appeared in her palm. Her face was red and held a scorning stare at them.
“What. Happened.” Jayna said through clenched teeth.

The one that was calling to make way moved a step closer to Queen Lora. He knelt and said “Your Majesty, you know of our training site a while north from here. Two days ago we were having an intense simulation to show the new comers what to expect. One of the buggers shot an arrow in the General’s shoulder.”

“That couldn’t have killed him!” Jayna screamed. The man continued, but addressed Jayna this time.

“Princess, we had General Mikal rest after the incident. All of yesterday he wouldn’t come out, so we figured he’d still be resting. Wrong we were when we checked his quarters earlier today. Blood, his blood, drenched the floor as General Mikal lay unmoving in the pool. His throat was slit, along with several other fatal wounds in the heart.”

“HE WAS ASSASSINATED?” Jayna yelled “And no one was there to guard him? Where the hell were all of you when this happened?”

“Princess, I know you are as upset as the rest of us, we all valued him as a brother, more than a brother. He gets angry when we act up on his injuries, we figured time and rest would heal him. We never thought this would happen! It came so unexpected! We were just following his orders, and couldn‘t do anything about it!” He was blabbering and Jayna had to stop him before he says something that might anger her more. He could have just said “It was his fault no one was there to save him.”

“Enough of you’re stupid excuses! Do you have any suspicions of who might have done this?” Jayna asked.

The man paused then said “None.”

Jayna couldn’t stand it. ‘How stupid were these people?! Their General was hit, and no one watched him? Kept an eye on him? They were so, so dim-witted!’ Jayna thought full of hate and anger. She stormed out of the palace, with a nervous queen shouting her name, and ran as far away as she can get.
