By popular demand, the continued misadventures of your resident goddess-incarnate.
Kat's Continued Adventures takes place in modern-day times, continuing directly from "Introduction to SHAMROCK"

Ideas are to start by elaborating upon what was in the Epilogue of the Introduction. Prologues of each chapter will be dreams of different, distant times relating to the world of SHAMROCK and will be a neat way to preview the upcoming Novels.

---So Far---
Prologue:

"No, we won't cower before you any more!" I shouted, my high-pitched voice practically screeching the words. I flexed my scaly wings once and positioned my body into an attack pose I'd learned days ago, bringing my long thin tail over my head and extending the singular claw that was my tailblade.

"Don't. Don't do it!" Katerine whispered, placing her small hands on my equally small arm. I looked over at her bruised and bloody face, sadness glistening in my eyes as I saw the fear in hers. It was in that moment that I realized fear was my greatest enemy.

For as far as my memory stretched back, all the others and I had just let Angelo bully us around. Push us. Scratch us. Cut us with his tailblade. For the things he said and did, we were afraid of him.

Today, in full view of all to see, he had struck Katerine, his own sister, a member--just like him--of the family chosen to lead our people. I was a Gold Kaiylah like she, and I wasn't going to let such an insult slide even as his booming laughter shook my very bones.

"You say what? You won't cower? Oh, I'll give you something to cower about..." Angelo said before he struck.

He was fast -- as fast as skyfire -- but I was faster and had the advantage of being smaller. I had paid attention during my training sessions and would now put that knowledge to good use.

"Stop! Stop! Angelo, stop, please!" I heard Katerine begging. She never liked it when people fought, or got hurt. She was my best friend. I'm sorry, Kati. I'm so sorry. I had to do it, I hope one day you understand.

I jumped around, opening and closing my wings expertly as needed, scratching and piercing Angelo's skin as well as tearing holes in his wings.

That is, until I heard him laugh again. Like being thrown in an icy cold river, the realization washed over me: he was just playing with me. I struck out again and again, and I did manage to nick him a few more times, but it wasn't enough to bring him down. In fact, I'd only made him angier, more hurt, and maybe even a little scared. It made him more dangerous. If only I'd known better. But I was just a child, defending his best friend from her monster of a brother.

From ice to fire, the sensations filled my torso. Katerine's screams reverberated through my long, outward-pointing ears. I looked down, shocked, to see Angelo's large tailblade sticking through my chest. The crowd gasped, and backed away. Sputtering up dark purple blood through my mouth, I looked up at Angelo.

I was the only one who could see that he was mortified and, more that that, remorseful. The monster had a soul after all. He looked so scared...just as scared as I felt.

I didn't want to die.

I felt Angelo pull his tailblade out of my small body and, as I collapsed, saw his expression change from fear to a sort of forced cockiness.

"That's what you get when you try my patience!" Angelo crowed.

I wanted to lift my head in defiance, but instead I merely continued to cover it in dirt. Finally I moved, but not of my own volition. Katerine had pulled me up, desperately trying to get me to stand again, sobbing and begging, "no, no, no, please be okay! Be okay!"

I looked into her tear-filled eyes and opened my mouth to say that I was okay. I so desperately wanted to reassure her. I cared so much for her, more than I had ever realized before this moment. I felt her shaking me, begging me to wake up. My last lingering thought was, Wake...up? Am I asleep, Kati?

***

I awoke saying "Kati, Kati I'm sorry," over and over again before I realized what had happened. I was Kat, not some winged six-year-old, and it was just a dream. At least, it was a dream now. Had it been reality for someone at some time?
