A family's night before Christmas. This is olden time. It has snowed.
Holiday Gift

The stars twinkled clearly on the cold and clear Christmas Eve night.
I felt the wind blow and chill my cheeks.
I stopped to tighten the straps on the snowshoes my mother let me borrow for walking to work.
She wanted to make fresh hot cocoa when I came home .
As I bent over I saw a lovely red ornament that someone must have dropped.
Our little tree only had hand carved figures so I saved this ornament for our tree.
I looked at some icicles that sparkled in the street light.
Tonight the family would eat and then sing songs.
It was a nice custom to enjoy on the upcoming holiday.
Before the first song, little brother Ray said “I saw deer tracks in the snow in the street before I came in.”
We all smiled and imagined Santa driving his deer down the street to leave presents and sweets for families with children. This was a happy thought that entered my mind as I fell asleep.
