The second of my collections of poems written for "Express It In Eight."
As usual these days, I choose blog format because it offers more space for the work.

Flowers

It’s true that flowers are very nice
even today if we ignore their price
their colours enhance both our dating and leisure
and sniffing their bouquet gives us much pleasure.

But I’m glad that our roles will never reverse
for I cannot forget the fact most perverse
that these beautiful blossoms with their colours and regalia
for the plants in reality they’re really genitalia!

Microscopic Man

Microscopic Man
retreats from the larger world,
evades its weighty matters,
and shuns the higher call.

Instead he finds delight
in worlds beyond our sight,
re-creates the universe
in miniature perfection.

Ice dragon in the clouds.

Here Be Dragons

Write a poem about a dragon
but first a swig from this here flagon
metamorphosis a thirsty job
and I have that from the horse’s gob
so now I see things through the wyrm’s eyes
which, I suppose, should be no surprise
I must become the thing I describe
not just fantasies that I imbibe.

Glove

Glove on the floor of the passage,
black leather, long cuffs,
peeled from a careless hand
and dropped in haste,
fingers splayed in shock,
heartlessly abandoned,
and now a spark
to idle passing tales.

New Year

Just another number
more days to encumber
our tale of woe
and song of sorrow.

It matters not
what the past has got,
we hope this time
our fortunes climb.
