Wonderful poem that links footprints to bits and pieces of our memories over the years.
As we get older, we do leave a mark behind - footprints if you will - and even as they fade away, they'll always linger and be a reminder of what we once were.

Food of the adequately toothed
biltong or what they call jerky here
salted and hung out to dry
in the merciless heat of the drought
shrivelled and hardened these strips
like bark wrenched from a tree
the meat now mummified and stringy
yet tasty beyond expectation.
