Sunday April 14th 2019. 10pm Sternwood Residence Allenwood New Jersey

Husband and wife Donald and Gloria Sternwood, owners of Sternwood Food & Beverage Services Limited are multimillionaires. Their business empire consisted of ten cafes, twelve restaurants, 2 hotels, a beach resort in Florida, a catering and outsourcing business, catering wholesalers and food & Beverage industry recruitment industry. Their portfolio also consisted of a number of rental properties. They are in their bedroom preparing their attire for the week ahead. They believed successful busy businesspeople scheduled in advance down to the smallest detail. Business attire had to be prepared in advance. You then got up, got showed ready to go. No time wasted pondering on attire.

Fifty-six-year-old short sighted Donald wearing gold rimmed glasses at five foot nine, dressed in a two-piece black business suit, a pink cufflinked shirt and silk black tie with pink polka dots and as always, a tie bar holds his tie in position. A full Windsor tie knot sits directly in front of the fully buttoned collar. Donalds ties were never loosened, or the top collar button unfastened, Gloria would always warn him "A businessman should never wear a loosened tie, it's unprofessional." They both worked virtually every day. For them high quality service started with them. Any day they worked; they wore business attire. Gloria insisted on this. She also insisted that once you get up you dressed for your day, fully suited and ready to go. You don't leave the bedroom until your fully dressed.

Fifty-two-year-old Gloria, her five-foot three slender frame dressed in a wine-coloured dress suit, once completed her attire and accessory selection for the week, re-examines Donalds shirt and tie selection for the week. Two built in drawers housed his extensive tie collection. They both believed in business you need to plan and plan to the most minute detail. That included what tie to wear. Sometimes two are selected depending on who they are meeting.

They had two daughters. The eldest thirty year old Rosamund, worked as general manager in a five-star hotel in Switzerland. Their youngest daughter Prudence aged 26 was operations director of their businesses.

Gloria stretches her hands out over Donalds ties, cufflinks and tie bars separated by day on top of his built-in attire chest "Okay Darling, that's everything now"

Wednesday April 17th 2019. 7am Sternwood Residence Allenwood New Jersey
Donald Sternwood is partially dressed with his shoes black suit pants and white shirt. Standing by a full length mirror, he is preparing his green tie with white diagonal lines. He measures it up for a balthus knot. He believed a businessman should always take his time tying a tie. A tie formed first impressions and enhanced professionalism. He believed a businessman should never under value his ties. He believed a tie shouldn't be picked randomly it has to be selected. The tie selected to suit the day and the knot suited to the shirt collar.

Gloria sits by a make up table. Applying make up to her chiselled features, trying to conceal the stress lines formed on her brow and nose line. Once make up is applied. She selects the small circular gold earrings chosen for the day ahead. She re-examines her make and her perfectly positioned shoulder length dyed black hair.
She rubs her thumb and index fingers together of each of her soft feminine well-manicured hands. Her aunt Marilyn's eightieth birthday celebration. Many of her relatives were envious of the wealth of herself and Donald. She believed they were really only invited to pay for the birthday party at the cafe. They would be expecting it. The worst was the McClures. Gloria's great mother and her brother arrived from Italy. The brother, he had some anger issues, legend has it, he had to leave Italy for a crime he carried out. His great grandson, fifty five year old Archie McClure has anger management issues. Archie could fall out with his shadow and want to fight it.

She stands up, she too is partially dressed, she is wearing a navy suit skirt and white bow tie blouse. The bow bands on her blouse hang loosely down to her waste, as they wait to be tied. She stands beside Donald at the mirror. He is positioning his tie "Darling" she asks "What do you think of later?"

He lets go of his tie from both hands and extends them out "I can't wait to be called a sissy in a suit by McClure"

Gloria rubs his back with her left hand "Darling your not a sissy in suit, I know that your daughters know that we all know that!!"

Donald fastens the top shirt collar button and pushes the collars upwards, his voice growing agitated "Being told that real men don't fold napkins or arrange flowers"

"Ahhhhhhhhhh" groans Gloria sympathetically "Darling, I love and admire you that if the business needs you to fold napkins or arrange flowers you'll do it. You're a businessman you do what the business needs. McClure is too ignorant to comprehend that"

Slowly Donald begins to tie his tie, he believed a businessman should always take his time tying his tie. Both Gloria and he believed a tie was an important component to the businessmans appearance. A tie should always be properly knotted and positioned to demonstrate professionalism. A poorly knotted or positioned tie as well as one loose hanging with or without an open collar to them indicated sloppiness.
"He tries to rile me into a fight and his brains are in his fists".

Gloria places her bow bands in her hands "I know, I have the same problem with Anne, really never seen a husband and wife more suited with each other. I do just keep out of her way at these things. They like trying to make us look weak"

Donald lowers his collar and tightens his tie "well its more Prudence I feel sorry for. The way their nasty daughter Gretchen bullies Prudence even now, is horrendous"

Gloria begins to knot the bow on her blouse she bits her lower lip "She's jealous, can't believe we tried to give her an opportunity and she throw it back at us. Maybe just as well Prudence was never friends with her".

Donald gently centres and runs his left hand gently over his tie "Big business lesson there, learn from your mistakes!"

Gloria nods in agreement as she analysis the bow tie on her blouse "We won't stay long, quickly give the gift, pay the cafe and go, only Marilyn is my godmother I wouldn't pay"

Donald adjusts the tie at the knot one more time and clips his tie to the shirt with his tie bar. He then glides a section of tie outward from between the tie bar and knot to remove the tie flatness "Hows my tie".

"One second Darling" Gloria's attention drawn to her own blouse bow as she adjusts it and the positioning of the remaining trailing bands.

"Now Darling!!" she turns to Donald and as always readjusts the tie and tightens it ever so slightly more. She smiles at him "My businessman, I won't swap you for the world"

Gloria has finished applying her make up and inserting a small, studded gold earring into her left ear and then . She herself is dressed in a navy trouser suit and a white bow tie blouse "with you now darling", she replies.
She stands up and smiles placing the tie in her hands she readjusts and tightens a little more, she always found room to tighten.

Once the tie is in position, he raises the collars and closes the top button.
Once completed, the tie knot is positioned up to the very top of the collar. It would stay there throughout the day, even when back at home. He deplored meeting clients or colleagues whom didn't take time with their ties, they wouldn't be straight, badly knotted, hanging loose or worse still hanging loose with an open collar. The businessman had to respect his tie. in his briefcase in the top right hand corner compartment you would find two spare ties. In his offices in the various locations more ties. He had the mantra that a Businessman should always have a spare tie close by.

He straightens his tie on the button line, readjusts at the collar and adds his tie bar to hold it in position. He tugs the tie upwards over the tie bar to add some slack "honey, tie check time!"
