Just here, the tide goes out for miles,
sand flats lifted into view,
the sea a distant line before the sky,
where the shallow ripples lap
by the shore, foaming and energy spent,
nibbling at the land’s defences.
Turning, we see the low green dunes far away
and hurry back to escape the sea’s return.
