Welcome to my blog: I intend to share heartfelt writing about anything that comes to mind. |
Let's write about contentment. Are you content with what you have or are you always trying to get more? I would like to think I am content for the most part. I think contentment is learned. Paul said he had learned contentment too. Philippians 4:11-12 11 Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. 12 I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I find it interesting that it is after these verses that he says he can do all things through Christ who strengthens him. (Philippians 4:13) |
What kind of core values do you believe Christ had? It would make sense to think Jesus would share the same core values as the Holy Spirit. Gal. 5:22-23 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 [a]gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. I also like to think complete allegiance and obedience to God the Father is also among his core values. |
Do I stop and give a dollar or two to a person with a sign on a corner? Why or why not? I dp not always do that. Here in Okc, people are required to get a permit to panhandle. There are some people who do it that are just too lazy to get a job. Now if I have food or something I can give them in my hand, then I will. However, I don't just usually hand them money. If a neighbor comes to my door and asks for something to eat or drink, I will give it to them. Sometimes, you just have to listen to your intuition. |
What are your thoughts about patience? Patience is a very broad subject. There are many things that can be said about it. Patience helps us wait on things well. It is obtained by going through tough times and having our faith tried. In my case, being around pets and kids and working with customers gave me a lot of and I am sure I lost a lot of it too. Life requires patience. The Bible has a lot to say about it too. Just look up patience in a concordance, and take a look at that list of scriptures. |
What do you do to promote spiritual growth in your own life? For my own spiritual growth, I try to have a lifestyle of prayer and praise. I work toward regular reading and studying the Bible. It is all about relationship If I feel like I have sinned or made a mistake that would offend our Heavenly Father, I immediately repent. Communication is key. Practice listening to God too. |
What role does the Bible play in your life? Rather you believe it's true or not, it's got a lot of wisdom and great advice. For me, it is like a guide book. It helps me to have good morals and set good boundries. It allows me to get to know God: his heart, his motives, his thoughts. It makes me to even know myself better. I am able to communicate with God. |
Why does God want a relationship with you? We were created by him to bring him glory. Ecclesiastes 12:12-14 12 And further, by these, my son, be admonished: of making many books there is no end; and much study is a weariness of the flesh. 13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. 14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil. There are many verses in the Bible that tell us to give God glory and why we should. God made us to need him. He loves us with a love that pursues us! It is similar to the love of a person in love. If you have ever been in love, then you know exactly what I am talking about. John 10:14-15 14 I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine. 15 As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep. John says Jesus is the good shepherd. A shepherd will leave the rest of the flock to go find that one lost sheep. Can you feel God/Jesus seeking you today? We love him because he first loved us. 1 John 4:14-19 14 And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world. 15 Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God. 16 And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. 17 Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world. 18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. 19 We love him, because he first loved us. |
