Take UP Your Cross Prompt: Outside from your corporate worship in church, do you personally find it easy to worship God? Why or why not? Answer: I actually find it easier to worship in private instead of public. People tend to judge you even based upon how you worship. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Write about ancestors in your Blog entry today. I too have a family history book of my dad's side of the family that a distant cousin wrote. I had a great aunt well known in North Carolina. Her name was Nell Pickens. She also wrote a book called Dry Ridge. Here is a newspaper clipping about it. https://citizen-times.newspapers.com/clip/19647107/great-aunt-nells-book-about-d... Here is a listing of sorts of it on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/Dry-Ridge-Some-history-people/dp/B0006R3UZY In this dry ridge book, it contains a photo of David Crockett. He is related on my Pickens side of the family by his marriage to Elizabeth Patton. This is mentioned in the book. Later on doing research on ancestry.com, I realized his other wife also tied into the Pickens line. I have a very interesting family history on both sides. |
“Reading at meals is considered rude in polite society, but if you expect to succeed as a writer, rudeness should be the second-to-least of your concerns. The least of all should be polite society and what it expects.”― Stephen King How do you feel about someone reading through dinner? Do you agree with King that exceptions should be made? Reading during dinner is rude? Oops! I do it all the time. Lol Well, I don't always do it in public when I am spending time with other people. I have some mixed feelings here. When you are supposed to be spending time with people you are not always around, then it is rude not to give them your undivided attention. Sometimes certain people can cross your path that you don't enjoy being in their company but you are expected to endure some meals with such as relatives of your best friend. When at a restaurant and in unpleasant company, I will take out my phone and do something on it while waiting for the food to arrive because I really don't want to be involved in the conversation. Call it rude if you want to. I call it a coping mechanism. These people really don't want to know what I truly think. Trust me on that. Sometimes you have to pick the lesser evil. |
Create a story using these words in your entry: Serious, curious, notorious, screams, unreasonable and seasonable. Have fun creating a short story. I read recently that the market for 100 word story is on the increase. This is great practice for us all. Ponchious Pilot asked, “ Who do you want me to release to you? The Notorious Barabbas or this man you call Jesus of Nazareth?” The crowd screams, “Release Barabbas! Barabbas!” Pilot then asked, ”Are you serious? What should I do with Jesus then?” The crowds yells even louder, “Crucify him! Crucify him!” Curious, Pilot asks, “Why? What crime has he done?” Again the crowd answers with “Crucify him! Crucify him!” He decides to bring Jesus inside to question him? He asked him some questions but Jesus did not say a word. So Pilot says, “You are being unreasonable to not answer me. Do you not know that I have the power of life and death in my hands?” Jesus tells him that he would not have that power unless it had been given to him by his Father in Heaven. With this seasonal response, Pilot had him flogged and eventually gave in to allow him to be crucified at the request of the people. |
PROMPT September 18th Take us through a day in your life at your job/career. Talk about some of the more important responsibilities you have as well as what your major tasks entail. It’s always interesting to see how others work Well, since not all of us have physical paying jobs, that's a tough one to answer for me. Sometimes my days vary greatly from one to the next. They depend on what absolutely needs to be done and how much energy I have. Some days, I have absolutely no energy and it is a struggle to just get out of bed especially when pain is also a factor. I have to take care of my dog and roommate. I will take the dog out when I wake up after I go to the restroom. Then I get my roommate set up with her tablet, phone, and drink. I make sure she doesn't need anything. I give her a pill for acid reflux. Then I go to my room and take my thyroid medicine. We both have to wait to eat breakfast at least 30 minutes after we swallow our pills. While we wait, we usually do stuff on our tablets. She will find something to watch. I typically get on here or check Facebook. Then I fix me and my roommate breakfast. After breakfast, we both have more medicine we have to take. So I take and distribute medicine. This is where it can vary. Depending on the time or the days obligations and on how we feel, we may lay back down for awhile. I may do housework if I am feeling up to it or I may write in my blog.. We usually have lunch around noon. Then I walk the elderly neighbor’s dog and my dog. If I feel up to it I may do some more errands around the house, and if not I will rest in front of my fan until I do. This is usually the time frame for completing things around the house. By around 4, we are usually starting to get hungry again. I will typically do dishes, then I fix dinner. We will eat dinner usually by 6 or 7. I will typically give evening meds around 7:30 or 8. Then I walk our dog and the neighbor’s again and sometimes the neighbor too. I keep teasing her about getting her a leash too. She laughs because she knows I am joking. After this, I usually write and try to wind down. Then I have my Bible reading/ prayer time and then it is usually bedtime. Sometimes, I have errands to run away from home in the afternoons. Most of the time I have to force myself to do a lot because I hurt and I just don't have any energy. Some days, I do good to do the bare minimum. I also assist my roommate getting dressed and with bathing/personal hygiene. |
