"Stop looking at me." "You are quite interesting though," the seagull said. "Look to the sea. There is plenty of room on this beach," the crab said. "Those pinchers are a marvel. I wonder if you won't pinch me." "That's what I was afraid of, that you will attack me." The crab and the seagull stared at each other for a moment. Slowly, the crab drew nearer. The seagull kept on looking. The sand weaved its way around as the crab moved sideways, nearer the seagull. Its determination was steady. It will find a way for the seagull to stop staring at it. It clanked its pincers together. "I know what you are thinking of." The seagull flew away. The crab sighed in relief. Not today would the seagull win. Now it wanted to find a good spot to soak up the sunlight. The shell that the seagull stood over looked enticing. Prompt: Use the words "Stop looking at me." "There's a cave!" a sailor announced as the ship drew near to the land. "The treasure must be there," Arc said with a wide beaming grin. Suddenly echoing noises could be heard and the sound was quite deafening. A cloud of bats started coming out of the cave as the ship drew closer. "Everyone take cover! Go inside!" The crew ran inside, Arc tripped over a rope. The sailor turned and saw that he had tripped and went over to help. The cloud of bats was upon them now. Every single wing could be heard combined as if there was thunder. "I got you!" Bats started flying all over the place as the sailor looked to free Arc. One bat landed on the sailor and bit him. The sailor screamed in pain as he loosened the knot and freed Arc. Arc ran until he reached the door and then looked back. The sailor was now turning into a bat. Gulping, he opened the door, dashed inside, and then shut the door tight. These weren't ordinary bats, these were vampires! Prompt: Bat(s) Contest: "The Prompt Me Contest" ![]() Word count: 184 |

She looked beautiful, her face was quite lovely. A single arm reached out to touch me. The joy of finally being able to meet her. Another arm appeared, then another. How many arms did she have? I looked in alarm at the growing number of arms. All I could see was one person out of the many arms and hands that grew in numbers. "Yes, my dear?" an icy voice came out of her throat. "I just- wanted to find out my future is all. Never would I have expected for you to have many arms," I said, having second thoughts about meeting her. "Welcome to your future. Your fate is with me. If I don't have that necklace, you'll never make it out alive," the eerie voice said. "Never will I give you the necklace or die in your presence. I know what you are really after and came to tell you that I have it and will freely give it to you. I ask for freedom in return," I said. As soon as I said that, I wondered if I'll regret it. She seemed as cold as she sounded. "Oh, is that the Amulet of War I see? That is even better. Give it to me and your life will be spared," the many armed woman said. I could think of taking that in many ways. How will my life be spared? Will my family and friends rest in peace? "Here you go," I said, handing over the amulet. "Thank you. Because of this you shall serve me in pride. Oh, you don't need to do anything at all, but I may provide powers you would like to have. First, earthquakes. I shall grant you the power to summon earthquakes. It will happen naturally the more angry you are. Thanks to you I can summon war as I please. This amulet should not fall into the wrong hands," the woman said, sending a chill down my spine. What kind of a gift is that? I was terrified of earthquakes dand have been since I was young. She said my life would be spared yet I was going to have nightmares from this day forward. I get angry easily over little things and I knew that. Now my challenge was to not get angry at all or else a nightmare would happen. I didn't even know her name. I walked outside and into a cafe to have a drink with my friend. My friend was slurping on an icee latte as I went up to greet him. He smiled back at me and then held out a different cup he had been holding in his hand. "Try it. It's good," he said with a smile. "Sure," I agreed when all of a sudden he jerked forward and dropped the drink. It made a mess all over my pants and I felt a surge of anger rose up in me. "Why did you do that?" The earth began to shake and I didn't care. It felt good to be angry, so much so that I didn't care on what would happen to him. The building started to split into two and all around me people were diving for cover. I felt a new anger rise against them and it felt good to be angry at them. Suddenly the cafe ground split open and people, tables, and chairs fell into the deep hole. I laughed, not knowing why. Then I thought what a nightmare it would be to fall through the hole and pity rose. Why did I get so angry all of a sudden? Is it going to be like this to everyone I meet? I couldn't bear to think about losing my family and then felt angry at myself. Why did I agree to meet the woman in the first place? I needed things to be back to normal before it's too late. I couldn't hear any screams but felt certain that my friend was still alive, probably angry with me so much that he wasn't my friend anymore. I closed my eyes as if I could bring him back to life. In my mind an image of that woman of many hands appeared. Only this time many dark faces appeared as well behind her. She held a book in her arms. The voices coming from the many faces sounded like they were beckoning me to come back and join her. I couldn't, just couldn't. I opened my eyes again and saw the waitress staring at me with her mouth gaped open. I didn't feel anger rise at her and felt glad about that. I needed to speak to someone, or something, and ask how could I solve my dilemma without getting angry at anyone again. Even the anger mood was a nightmare to face as it seemed unrealistic. Was this her anger? What is her name? I ran out of the cafe and stopped in front of a building I had never seen before. Anger welled up from within me not remembering if that building had been there. Then the ground started to shake. The anger didn't last long and the earthquake stopped. For while this feeling and tremor haunted me I decided I will not stop until this is over. I should never have fell for her tricks. Then I decided to go into the building to see what I could find. Maybe someone or something could help me. I hoped I wasn't dealing with a goddess either. She had transferred powers to me I couldn't control. Once inside I was greeted by a variety of things along with a dragon statue. That statue suddenly moved its head and grinned at me. "Welcome to the Rarity Shop where you pay not with currency," the dragon statue said. "I'm in a dilemma. First off, if I get angry, an earthquake happens and this is because I spoke to a lady who has many hands and heads behind her. Also she holds a book. I gave her the Amulet of War and now who knows what may happen. Because of this anger I lost my friend. Do you have anyway to reverse this from going too far?" I asked. "Death in the key of C! This flute will serve you well. Play it when you meet her again, I'm assuming the Goddess of Nightmares named Nightmare. Many arms and many heads describe her well and the book she holds is a book of spells," the dragon statue said. I picked up the flute and bowed. "How will I pay for this flute you speak of and how will I find her?" I asked. "Stop the nightmares from spreading by preventing war. You must get the Amulet of War back and I can keep it safe and sound. Though returning it to the War Master God Ares. That is what he goes by. How will you find her I don't know. Think of the very place that haunts you the most. You may have to jump through a hole to face your fears," the dragon statue said. Then I noticed there was a speaker in the dragon's mouth that could be easily connected to a microphone. So I was talking to somebody but through the dragon statue. How clever. "Thank you very much." "Have a good day and may the events be reversed in time." I exited the building with the flute and looked down on it. I must get the Amulet of War back. I gave it to the wrong hands. Nightmare could rage a war in nightmares easily. Then I thought about what would haunt me the most. Going to a haunted house is pretty scary. But then I thought about my friend. Going to a haunted house would not work at all. The cafe I had gone to meet my friend would haunt me for life. Everything that had happened since I met Nightmare had been a nightmare. I wanted it to stop. Suddenly movement caught my eye and I looked up to see someone that looked exactly like my friend. Could it be him? Did he escape the earthquake? "Hello," I said, then stopped. Something was wrong. His face didn't look quite right. An amulet dropped and I recognized it to be the Amulet of War and the figure that looked like my friend turned into a lady with many arms and heads holding a book. The same lady I had met earlier. People started staring at her. Then I knew what to do. I held up the flute and started to play. She shrieked with her cold, icy voice and then melted into the ground. The Amulet of War lay intact on the ground. Before I could pick it up a bulky man stood there and then picked up the amulet. It was Ares. He smiled. Then he asked me what I wanted. I decided I wanted to go back in time and not ever meet Nightmare so that I could meet my friend at the cafe without getting angry and causing an earthquake. On the beach, a mermaid laid playing with a crab. The big project called Unicorn Makeover didn't excite her. Their plans for the unicorns could create havoc among the unicorns. War was brewing between the leaders as no agreement had been made. When the war started she had come to the beach in search of the unicorn she had made friends with but with no success. There was a secret hideout she wanted to bring the unicorn to so that they could still be friends. As the sun drew high in the sky she considered turning around and returning to the water so that she could eat something. Suddenly the unicorn she waited for appeared. "I brought my friends along too. We escaped from an attack of the mermaids and survived it. Did you bring your friends along too? Maybe we can hide somewhere until all this chaos is passed," Elle, the unicorn said. "Yes, I have my friends as well. They weren't interested in the war either. Come this way, I'll show you the perfect hiding place I have in mind," Anna, the mermaid said. Elle called over all of her friends and together they swam through a cave into an opening where a path leading into the forest. Anna's friends swam around them as the unicorns climbed up onto dry land. They cheered as Elle looked around and didn't see anyone. Then everyone settled down and all eyes landed on Anna. Anna shuddered at the thought that their noise could draw attention from the main beach where the battle raged on. "Listen, we need to remain here for while there is a war going on between us. I'm sure there could be an agreement sooner or later. The war started because no agreement could be made and separated us. I'm glad that, now that we're together, we can prove to others that we can live peacefully. We don't approve of the Unicorn Makeover because it sounds like you may change into something else. This cove is hidden from view because the cave should be safe to be in while the war rages on. No two sides should dominate one another. Many lives have been lost and we are the last unicorns and mermaids who don't desire to continue this war. Maybe Elle and I can be brand new leaders and we can form our own territory," Anna announced. Just then a bang could be heard. Anna and Elle swam to the beach to see what caused the bang. Five mermaids and unicorns were left standing. They continued to hide behind a large rock while stretching their hearing range to hear what was being said. The leader of the mermaids suddenly raised a device and a big bang could be heard. They didn't want to look to see what happened, but then they opened their eyes. The unicorns and mermaids had disappeared. Then Anna and Elle swam back to check on their friends. Everyone was safe and sound. "What happened? Did the device for the Unicorn Makeover get used?" Lily asked swimming over to meet with Elle and Anna. "Yes, it did get used. There were five unicorns too. Anna is the only one who can be brave enough to find out what happened. That device needs to be destroyed. We are so close to destroying it too with our magic and not being caught," Elle replied. "For while I am gone to find the device, everyone else stays here. I promise I will be back with good news," Anna said. Anna left the cove with Elle in charge of the group. She found trails of magic that seemed to lead in one direction. As the particles floated around she felt the particles touch her skin. Then a merman appeared looking to be her age as well. She noticed he seemed to be sick from the particles as well. He had the same goal of finding the device and destroying it, so, together, they swam deeper into the ocean. As they swam they noticed their hands were becoming more webbed and hurried further down to the bottom of the ocean. There they found five beings that resembled the five mermaids and unicorns. Five mermen had joined them as well with their appearances changed like the others. Then Baso, the merman, thought of the one thing that terrified their sides, stories of a Water Basilisk. They swam until they saw a frightening shadow. This shadow showed the shape of a basilisk. Looking around, Anna found the head blend in with the shadows. Then an eye appeared and a mouth gaped open. Anna yelped as the head rose and its mouth pointed toward them. A scale fell to the ground and she noticed it swirled with magic. Swimming underneath a rock bridge, they watched as the basilisk mouth moved closer. Then she swam all the way over to where the scale laid and grabbed the scale. It seemed to act as a mirror. As the basilisk snapped at Baso he swam quickly over to where she was. They waited until the mouth faced them again before moving. Anna swam ahead, leading the way to the group they had found. As soon as she saw them then they swam behind a rock. The basilisk soon hovered above the group and she watched as they started to panic. One by one basilisk attacked them and they all swam away. Then she turned around and found two unicorns mutated from the device behind her. They nodded to her as she ran and picked up the device, seeing how friendly they were. Turning off the device from a lever on its side she explained to them the main way to destroy it was by the spell her group had uncovered when stealing the blueprints to the device. Then they swam back to the cove. Baso brought his friends along, safe from the effects of the particles. "Some ingredients are missing from the spell. I see you have banana leaves, round fruit, and large grass missing from the blueprints. Yes, we ended up mutated from this device. They were once unicorns and we were once mermaids. However, our minds haven't changed. The last of the unicorns and mermaids that were at war are gone now thanks to a basilisk. Here is a scale to prove it. Now we can finally begin our new lives at peace with each other. It would be best to remain to have this cove as our new home until one day the spread out particles disappear from the ocean and we could travel the ocean again. We'll also search the blueprint for a cure for this dreaded disease and live normally once more," Anna explained as everyone turned to face her, leery of the new unicorns. "Yes, I'll go search for a cure as we speak," Lantain, their researcher, spoke up and took the blueprints with him into a corner. "We are glad we have this device in our hands instead of theirs now. That basilisk did something good for once, even if it was dangerous. We can gather these ingredients and then come back to you. Soon the spell to destroy it will be complete, along with having the device in our hands. I say a truce should happen between us as a representation of the end of the war. Even though we're kids still, we're smarter than those who started this war. Watch out for anything out of the ordinary. It's been a while since we had been separated," Elle said. Then she sent her friends to find the ingredients. A couple of hours had passed since Elle sent her friends to find the missing ingredients, so Anna decided to come up with a game in which Elle was happy to do the drawings. They settled into groups of 10 and then the game started. One by one, each team had to guess the correct answer to the drawing. Elle's attention to detail made each drawing look realistic. The only thing missing was a background to the drawing so that the drawing could stand out more. More time passed by since the group disappeared and Anna started wondering what could be taking so long. Finally, she spoke up first. "I'm concerned about how late it's getting and your friends haven't returned yet, Elle. I'm wondering if we should split up and search for them," Anna said after a round of the game finished up. "Good idea. It shouldn't be too hard to find all the ingredients but they haven't come back yet. I think they would be back by now," Elle agreed. "We'll split up and search the coast. If we find them then we could find out why it's taking so long. We'll meet back here in an hour. Daylight is almost done so there isn't any time left to waste," Anna said. Friends of Anna split up and they took heed of the warning not to swim in the purple stuff. A few of them stayed behind so they could guide the mermaids back to the secret cove. Some time passed by with Elle and Anna talking to each other and wondering if there was any chance more unicorns and mermaids have survived the war with no intent on hurting each other like them. They did speak about the chances of befriending any of them since the war had lasted so long. Being together and sticking by each other's side was what they remember enjoying the best. It had been just a short time of being separated, but the separation felt like an eternity. Then a few mermaids returned smiling. "They have a lot of each of the missing ingredients. Everyone is working together to bring them all back here. Some were close behind. We avoided the purple goo that was left behind. It makes me shudder to see the results of the device. Now we can get to work on that spell," the bigger one reported. Sure enough, soon more mermaids showed up carrying the ingredients with them. Then they heard some neighs out there which represented Elle's friends returning from the trip. "Thank goodness everything is okay. I was starting to worry about all of you. Now, let's get this spell on the roll. There's not much time to waste and it'd take over the night to work," Anna said cheerfully. For the rest of the day, they set to work with the spell. A glowing pattern appeared over the water as they began the spell. Excited, Anna encouraged everyone to join in so that the spell would be more powerful than the device. The purple square quivered and rocked the device as they continued to cast the spell. The expected results in the end for them was a black, charred square that would give way to the touch easily when the device was destroyed. So far the rocking seemed to be the only side effect of the spell. After muttering the last of the spell Anna took a deep breath and sighed. Then she looked around as the glowing pattern lit up the cove inside. Peering out she could tell the sun had already set for the evening. "Alright everyone, this is it. We all better head to bed for the night. See you in the morning, everyone," Anna announced as the spell continued to be at work. Nothing could stop this spell now, she felt sure that in the next day or two the device would be destroyed so they wouldn't have to worry about the side effects happening to anyone else. "This is good news. I was told bad things will happen if the device is used and seeing the results they were right about it," Elle said. She wondered if the two unicorns affected by the purple goo were going to be alright. During the night Anna couldn't sleep. Baso came up to her side as she swam out of the cove to see the night sky. She sighed as he put his arm around her shoulders. His warmth felt comforting and inviting. They continued to watch the stars in the sky in silence for a few more minutes until Baso started coughing. The cold air caused her to wonder if being out here they would both catch a cold. Then she pushed him to the side and wondered why he was up. "What are you doing up so late? Tomorrow we have a big day- watching the device and see if the spell would work like it said it would," Anna scolded. "I was wondering why you were up so late. I heard you sneaking out of the cove and decided to find out the answer," Baso said. "I'm nervous. What if this spell doesn't work and we would have to make sure nothing touches the purple square inside the device. I guess there really isn't anything to worry about. But, still." "Everything will be okay. This spell has to work. Once it is done then the device will be destroyed for good so that it wouldn't hurt anyone else. I think the mastermind behind it got a good dose of that device and it serves them right. How hideous it was to think of and create such a thing. The unicorns did the right thing by not agreeing to the queen's plans." "That sounds very convincing. Okay, I think I'll be able to sleep for the night now that you've said that. I needed it. Only us mermaids versus the unicorns. In a way, I've sided with the unicorns because of how suspicious I was of the device. Good night." The next morning everyone woke up. Anna felt refreshed and ready to go. One problem she had was how her stomach rumbled. Her stomach reminded her that she hadn't had a bite to eat for a while now. Swimming up to the surface, she noticed the device still stood and the glowing pattern lingered which told her the spell continued to be at work. Over the night wasn't enough for the spell to complete its job. Groups went out in search of food at a time and Elle and her spoke to each other about what they plan to do when the device was destroyed. They wanted to meet each other daily but food was scarce. Then she decided she would take a short trip around the coast just to freshen up her mind. She remembered Baso's words. A flash suddenly happened from the cove's entrance and she wondered if everyone was okay. The groups had found enough food to feed everyone and some had given her food to eat while she wandered back to the secret cove. Quickly, she swam to the surface where the device was. The glowing pattern had disappeared and there were shattered pieces of what was left of the device. Heart pounding, she floated there in shock about what happened. Her joy rose as she realized the ordeal was done, no longer would the device harm anyone else. The Unicorns and Mermaids are on the verge of war or war has already broken out. Spin tales of what happened to bring this about, how the war is going, or who wins and why/how. This is inspired by , the mermaid lover, , the unicorn lover, and , the one smart enough to remain neutral. Written for "The Whatever Contest." ![]() ![]() Word/Line Count: 2,514 |
Glittertoe, this holiday may not be much, but a messy fun for a day in December. Every year, on the 25th, children get to enjoy a fun glittery celebration. How it started, just as simple as one party on the 25th, and the fever caught on. Every year, presents are opened, and the thrill of glitter spreading smiles on all faces followed by the doom of cleaning up. Trees become covered in glittering decorations from top to bottom as a symbol of life in the middle of winter. A hardy meal filled with all kinds of dessert afterward, in celebration of warmth and happiness. Glittertoe isn't all cut out to be just an ordinary holiday. History has it that Glittertoe started from a party covered in glitter from ceiling to floor. The people loved the party so much they made their own parties with glitter and this is how it so happened to be on December 25 of every year. The term Glittertoe began to spread from one house to another and soon an entire country was filled with Glittertoe decorations. The fever caught on and the whole northern part of the world started doing it. The southern part of the world decided to have theirs on June 20. Opening presents is a delight for the kids. If the kids were nice then there is rumors that the Glittertoe Claws would come and give them the presents of their dreams, riding on a pony. Glittertoe Claws is talked about heavily and children are eager to be good for the year so they could have the presents they look forward to. If the kids were naughty then, one day it began, Glittertoe Claws would give them coal instead. Bare branched trees became the norm since the party was filled with them. Glittery branches spark delight, brown and grey seems to be the two most popular colors to mimic that one fateful day when a party was thrown. The tree represents endurance of the year, all of the hardship to not be in vain. Why it gets celebrated because it gives people hope to look forward to a brand new year. Glittertoe is most popular celebrated with glitter even though it's quite a mess to clean up. History wound its way down from one popular party and commonly celebrated during December 25. If there are any questions about the presents and trees many resources reveals these origins. May Glittertoe Claws see you good and bring the presents of your dreams. Create a different holiday to be celebrated in December. Explain the purpose, traditions, etc. Written for "The Whatever Contest." ![]() ![]() Word/Line Count: 440 words |

Superstitions. Everyone talks about it. Here I roam around the neighborhood without a home. The other cats doesn't want to come near me because I smell like human. Those that don't have an owner that is. Still, my large size doesn't intimidate one stray. Gradually, I'll be able to have another partner as I work with this stray. A little girl wants a cat badly and keeps on buying cat food and feeding this stray. One thing I warned about. The parents doesn't allow her to have a cat and she spent her earnings to buy food. That's not good enough. As black as night and an indoor cat by day I've often spoken to this stray many times. If she's a good girl, her parents might cave in and she'll get the stray as a pet. Two months is her birthday. Bad luck? Well, the waiting time I'm sure she has to endure. Kittens gets dumped in this area all the time. Same with puppies. So always have to watch for animal control. I had an idea. Since black always meant good luck- can hide in the dark. It gives good luck and an advantage. Many prey uses black for hiding from us. She'll be able to keep the kitten. Just like how my owner has much success in her career, all I need to do is to appear to the little girl through her bedroom window. Then luck will play its part so she could have the stray. At night, I could crawl onto her window and cry. Seeing me is all it takes. At night, I crossed the street and found a white cat doing the same thing. One glare from his eyes tells me that he planned to bring bad luck for the little girl so that she could never adopt the kitten. I hissed, then turned around. Around the corner a car came, heading straight to me. Bad luck. White stands out from the rest. The next thing I know as I opened my eyes is being held and someone weeping. Then I realized it's the little girl cradling me in her arms and crying. A mew- the stray kitten had come as well in protest of what happened to me! "Yes, stray. I saw a white cat before getting hit and injured. This totally ruined my chances of finding a good home for you too. Her parents still don't approve," I meowed back. "I think, if you really want to adopt and keep this kitten, you may. Consider it your birthday gift two months before your birthday," the little girl's father said. With my heart pounding in excitement, I put my full force in flipping over. Accidentally, it was too much. I ended up landing on the cement. For one year, Aphra loved purses. She would go out to the mall every week just so she could buy a brand new purse. In some of these purses she bought, she hid gold. Others were filled with either sapphire, ruby, emerald, or diamond. Which would be expected to hold the most valuable collections? She deliberately picked on either the silver or gold purses to hide either diamonds or gold. She kept placing these purses in a cabinet, hidden from view of others, she thought nobody will find. One day, they disappeared without a trace... "Hello, would you like to help me clean out My large closet?" Aphra asked her friend. "Especially since it's the week to clean the closet- certainly. I'll come over right now," Mara replied. As Aphra slowly opened the door to her huge closet in the hallway she noticed the top filled with junk threatened to topple over and the coats and jackets inside appeared to be covered in dust in the light. The closet alone was going to be a challenge to open, let alone clean. Then she went over to the living room and sat down. Some ropes were going to be needed because she didn't want the junk at the top of the closet to fall over anyone's head. "Here I am!" Mara announced when she walked in the door. Standing up, Aphra went to work on helping on her plan to open the closet safely first. The doors weren't shut tight so they worked fast. Suddenly the doors swung open on their own and the junk on the top came crashing down. Bits and pieces of glass lay scattered all over the floor. Quickly Aphra dashed for the broom and dust pan while her friend worked on taking all the coats and jackets so that they could be washed. When everything was picked off the floor and the coats and jackets were in the laundry room Aphra decided to address the top part of the closet. Using a grabbing stick, she started to pull out one purse after another, most of them feeling very heavy. Then a piece of paper fell down to the ground. Her friend picked it up to read it. "Dear Aphra, I know you love to collect purses and stuff them inside of that hidden cabinet behind the bookshelf, but I thought that was too obvious a place to look for robbers. So I cleaned out that cabinet and moved your collection of purses into this closet. May the stones bring great wealth to you one day. Your son, Loki." "Oh, so that's where all my purses disappeared one day! I thought I would never see them again! I better call the police and report that I found them while cleaning out my closet. After all these years, my efforts weren't in vain after all!" Quickly, Mara dialed Loki's number. After a few minutes Loki picked up his phone and Mara spoke first. "Loki! I think your mother would like to speak with you right now. Remember how devastated she was when she couldn't find her collection of purses?" "Oh, her purses! They are so heavy I could barely lift some of them. Yes, now I remember. I was just a child when I discovered this cabinet full of them. I don't know where my dad had put them, but I thought that they don't belong in a cabinet anytime soon. I was just little back then. Dad's not here so there's been no way I could retrieve them after April 1." Aphra came over and spoke into the phone. "Why, your handwriting and name is on this note. You and your father's April fool prank has caused me a lot of tears and heartache. I really enjoyed all the purses I brought home from the mall too. Now that you are tall enough, why not come on over right now and take all my purses down so that I can enjoy them again? My friend Mara here deserves to have a silver and gold purse too since she loves collecting things." "Yes, mom. Coming over right away. So that is where dad put them the night before he disappeared. I wonder if we'll ever be able to see him again. Heard he went running off with a gang in a nearby country recently and so there's hope he's still alive and well. I don't know what to expect from these rumors." "Oh, I have an idea. Maybe we could fake selling rubies since rubies are high in demand right now. The sparkling red color of rubies is your dad's favorite and he won't be able to resist showing his face at the idea of buying a red ruby. How's that?" With an electric guitar in my hand The stage set up for my next performance I felt lonely standing alone Waiting for the others to arrive After miles of traveling I wanted to win Be first in class along my fellow mates Suddenly lights turned on blinding me And my people came to play the song As the song fade after reaching the end The music died down giving away to cheers The crowd applauded and whistled their approval Our band took the crown for rookie of the year Years passed by I returned to the spot Remembering what it felt like to take first spot The empty stage loomed ahead Just waiting for me to play the electric guitar again Length: 16 lines Prompt: stage, lonely, miles, lights, fade, music, crowd, empty Contest: "Stormy's poetry newsletter & contest" ![]() |
