My journey with a Gastric Bypass.
This is something very personal for me, I don't know if I'll make this journal public from the very beginning or make a few entries and release it.

Not including my pregnancies, my highest weight was 280 lbs. I have fought with Diabetes II since getting pregnant with my first son in 2008 and it only got worse when I got pregnant with my twins in 2011. I was so insulin resistant that nothing seemed to work and I had an automated insulin pump attached to my body throughout my pregnancy. My fasting blood sugar was consistently over 200, usually over 240 WITH the insulin pump. My body fought against me.

Towards the end of my pregnancy with my twins, I got pre-eclampsia and had to have an emergency c-section because IV meds weren't bringing it down. Shortly after that my blood pressure got out of control. I ended up in the ER with my Blood Pressure at 220/111.

I tried Weight Watchers with a little bit of success but as a sufferer of PCOS losing weight was a very difficult battle.

After talks with lots of family and friends that experienced a gastric bypass, my doctor agreed that this was the best course of action for me because I have maxed out on my Diabetes oral medications and was heading towards needing insulin again like during my pregnancy.

Anyone who thinks a Gastric Bypass is the "easy way" out to lose weight, btw, has obviously never had to experience the program, it's requirements, and the life changes it requires before ever being approved for the procedure, let alone the after effects..

After two years working towards all the requirements I've finally made it and my surgery is Monday, December 16, 2019.

I sit here 4 days beforehand thinking of the life change about to happen and I decided to record my day to day thoughts as I go through my Gastric Bypass surgery and the changes that occur with it.
