Sue, I was a force to be reckoned with when it came to doing things until 3 years ago, and then I took that crazy fall off the ladder. That fall broke not just my feet and damaged two discs in my back and tore the cartilage in my knee but it stole my fearlessness in doing things. Now I find I'm afraid of doing anything that might be risky where I never used to worry about the possibilities.
I've never cared about physical appearances, the things that mattered most to me was doing the things I dreamed of doing like hiking in Bryce Canyon, traveling to all the National Parks, dancing all night with my hubby and then walking together as the sunrises. I've accomplished a few parks and danced with my hubby but not all night and thankfully we've seen a lot of sunrises together.

Grasp life with both hands. While you can travel do it, Kare. It’s the thing which gives you most joy and happiness. The warmer weather will do those aging bones good too. You don’t have to hop skip and jump to enjoy an outdoor food market or just sit and chat to a stranger. We need to find our pleasures where we can before it’s too late. Looking forward to reading your observations from Penang.

I am definitely faded. I'm doing this 10 week trip to prove to myself that I can. I don't hop, skip and jump. 42 stairs up may yet do me in.

I know what you mean about not wanting to go back and edit my work, and I do cringe when people review older work of mine.

It is interesting. My Grandmother left some post cards from friends which I read and added to my stamp collection. I have a pair of her earrings also that I saw her wear once. Even elderly she was beautiful. Now I wonder who else may have left written things in Grandmas family.

Very nice story. Once on a trail ride. We stopped to eat our roast beef sandwiches. The pony I was riding wanted some and yes ate its share roast beef and all.

Really loved the grittiness of the first poem, taking something that normally brings a sense of wonder, awe and joy into something grim and cynical (and I’m not even really the biggest fan of that style of storytelling). So great job there.

The clock one was eerie as heck, but I loved it. I kind of interpreted it as if the clock turned sentient. Amazing work all around. Faved to reference as inspiration later

Is Artificial Intelligence (ChatGPT) a burden or a blessing for writers? And what are your thoughts on AI in general?

I love this prompt because AI has been on my mind, and everyone else’s lately I wouldn’t be surprised.
When I first heard about Chatgpt I was shocked. I failed to see how this could possibly help us as a species continue to evolve, to research, for children to use their brains and come up with new ideas. Schools are divided. Some see the inevitability and are accepting work which has been aided by AI, others are banning the use altogether. However everyone agrees it’s hard to prove work handed in has been written by AI.. It’s very unlike plagiarism as the exact words, phrases and formats haven’t previously been written elsewhere by some other author.
I think universities and colleges are getting around the problem by asking more questions of their students to ascertain what they actually know about the assignment

Jobs will certainly be lost. Why pay a person to write ads for real estate, or simple business letters when a request, with the pertinent details, can be given to Chatgpt which will do a great job. Better sometimes than a human.

So what could be the benefits?
AI has the ability to assist with people with profound disabilities, helping them to be understood for instance with speech processing.
AI can use multiple languages
AI never tires, is available 24/7
AI frees up staff to do more productive tasks whilst platforms such as Chatgpt do the mundane tedious work.
AI is quick to answer any question you may have although fact checking is still advisable.
I can understand script writers and authors being concerned about AI when a bot can write a screenplay or a book perfectly adequately.

So what’s the consensus? Only time will tell but the cat is well and truly out of the bag and there is no way back.
