Once again, my life is unraveling. When my husband & I went to sign the new apartment lease, we were told our income is too high after all. As a tax credit complex, they have to include my child support as "potential income". It doesn't matter that my jackass ex-husband quit paying it when he remarried last year or that he owes over 20K. (This is the same ridiculous rule that disqualifies Ravyn for Medicaid & the state children's health insurance plan.) Between the overtime, my husband occasionally works & my non-existent $1,000 a month we don't qualify. This housing crisis is only going to get worse and we still have to move in two weeks. Most of the other apartments are for low-income families. There are three that aren't, but they don't allow pets, and finding a 2 bedroom is nearly impossible. One has a 9-month waiting list. The only silver lining is that the woman told us landlords are required to allow an emotional support animal and cannot ask for a pet deposit. Presto! I went on-line, paid $150 to have a virtual visit with a mental health worker and our Trixie is no longer a pet. Now she's an ESA, a valued companion that helps me cope with my bi-polar craziness. Of course, as soon as I was feeling good about the situation, darkness descended. My husband called me from work to come to get him because his knee was bothering him so badly he could barely walk. It's swollen as big as a melon. I honestly have no idea what's going to happen to us when September arrives.

I wasn't sure about my email prayer chain idea. I thought it'd get dismissed or, worse, ignored by everyone. For once in my life, I'm happy to announce, "I was wrong." In less than 24 hours of making "Invalid ItemOpen in new Window. public, I've had numerous requests. I didn't even think I'd get one!

After nearly 20 years on WDC, I still feel like the kid that started school in the second semester, trying to figure out which lunch table I can sit at without being rejected. As an adult, I've learned to walk by all the tables and eat alone under a tree. It's always suited me fine until now. Years of eating alone have taken a toll on me. Although I've avoided petty arguments, stupid insults, and other people's drama, I've avoided shoulders to lean on and new experiences. Even though I see and regret many of my choices, I don't know what to do next.

What I do know is that I've got too many ideas and not enough time. This gives me anxiety because I constantly worry that I'm wasting time on meaningless, unimportant crap. So when I finally decided on which activity I wanted to prioritize, I had a conversation with myself.

If I were a member, which one would I check out first?
I don't know about ya'll, but I've had a difficult year. I could definitely use some extra spiritual support right now.

A new challenge will get more interest.
Maybe I'll finally find my WDC groove with a popular activity.

Did you catch that? Yep, that's right. I nearly focused on something that's less beneficial overall in order to be appealing to more people. It's like that time I pierced my belly button to impress the cool girls. It didn't turn out so well. My navel got infected and the antibiotics I took prevented me from being in the sun long. So no hanging out at Six Flags or Wet & Wild.

Yeah, I decided my other "great idea" could wait a while. I finally made the right choice. Damn it feels good!

I wonder if I'm the only one that had no idea what they were singing. 🤣 I couldn't understand a word! Age or health issues? Probably a combination of needing new speakers and being tired. I wore my brain out today.I kept having ideas, which are hopefully pretty good and getting distracted from focusing. I've discovered sometimes it's just easier to go back to a different project when I first lose interest in the current. So I've got five different things in various stages of progress waiting for my attention. It seemed weird at first, but if I keep working on something I don't have much interest in, I end up just mucking it up trying to be the best and brightest. Anyway, the video was visually interesting and it had a nice rhythm.

I've found a couple of projects to occupy me while I post up on the couch watching Living History shows. My oldest daughter was raised by her (racist abusive asshole) father and there was very little contact between us until she moved out at 17. It's awkward trying to get to know someone that shouldn't be a stranger. There's so much she doesn't know about me that I'm afraid I'll leave out something important. But I don't want to overwhelm her with information either.

I was thinking about the kids being little when I tripped over an ah-ha moment strolling down memory lane. A lot of school years started off with an "All About Me" project as a way for kids to get to know each other. That's what I want! Something not too heavy with information, but interesting enough to keep her attention. I'm not ready to write my memoirs just yet, but I do want to record certain moments. So I'm just going to make my own book of questions, fill it in, and give it to her at Christmas. Too cheesy?

The second thing is another type of book. These kids of mine need to work on their writing this year. We've done research papers, expository and informative writing, and I even had them pen a few old fashioned letters. The one thing I missed...creative writing! I've almost got my mini poetry course done, but I also want them to try writing a short story or two. Then NANOWRIMO isn't too far away, so I'm gathering my thoughts to make a workbook for them to use. I don't even have to do much of the nerdy research I enjoy because I've consumed so much information about writing already.

Look there, I'm writing two books! 🤣 Okay, maybe not real books, but I feel useful and I'm a little excited to get started.
