Times are changing but as a country we have done nothing to prepare for these changes.
Introduction:
There was a time, a long time ago that a person would work at the local factory or work place until retirement, still have money for the house, food and some of the niceties of like while one spouse took care of the family and if lucky had a pension to go with social security. Those days are gone. There are now a few estimates that people in the future will have four or five careers.
This means losing your insurance four to five time, maybe having to pay more of your insurance and at the times you don't have insurance and hope that you don't get sick in the mean time.
But they have COBRA for the unemployed don't they? Yes they sure do and if you want to pay the $1000 a month for yourself and another $1000 for your spouse you will be insured. If you are on unemployment insurance there is no way for the average person to make the payments of COBRA insurance. A nice benefit that you can't afford.
Pensions? Please they are over and done with in favor of IRA'S. Because IRA'S
