Thank you Dear Cubby~On the Road Again-Monday for being my inspiration to start this and see it through. I kept seeing your progress over at "Invalid Item" pop up and was so very proud of you, and new it was about time I followed your example. Thank you for leading the way. There are two purposes for this blog. One to log my daily treadmill workouts, holding myself more accountable and two, making some dreams come into reality through quilting. By dedicating 100 days to the process, I should achieve some great results, so here goes! Starting April 10th, 2016, I will walk on the treadmill daily for a minimum of 30 minutes. Starting April 10th, 2016 I will work on quilts daily for a minimum of 1 hour a day.

Big fail. Probably time to reset and start all over.... |
May 23 Day 44 Hard to stop when you are stitching away...been a busy day marched with ants. |
May 22nd Day 43 With all of the layers together I have stopped to revisit the pantograph design. I want this perfect. I am finding through research that the more "quilting" put into the project, the longer it takes, but it can also add to the look of the quilt. Still not sure what design but whichever it is, the quilting stitches begin tomorrow. I am done searching. ants were marching but nothing new to report. |
May 21st Day 42 Whew! Now that was a task. Getting the layers together wrinkle free was a chore, but it is done, and still hanging on the wall. I have a wall with fabric hanging on it that looks like I am trying to wallpaper with The Nightmare Before Christmas. Now to get this done before company shows up. Ants marched silently. |
May 20th Day 41 The batting is spray basted to the backing and both are hanging on the wall. The most difficult part was spraying just enough to get the back and spare the part of the backing I am not going to need so that it can be used on another quilt. All the wrinkles are out and it is awaiting tomorrow for the Front to be layered to the cake. Ants marched on. |
May 19th Day 40 Still not 100% on the pantograph, but I began the layering of the quilt. The backing, much to my surprise, didn't need to be cut and sewn. It is 108 wide, so is large enough as is and may be used to do 2 quilts now if I cut it just right. YIPPEE> However it is so large it has taken my hour up just to get it into position and start the layering process. Today I got the back pinned to the wall. Tomorrow I will get the batting glued to it. Ants marched on without fail. |
I have done it, I think. I have found the image I am going to use for the Quilt for Kristal, SHERRI GIBSON daughter. I have found the image, just not sure how I will turn it into a pantograph. I am going to have to do some playing on the computer to create this. That only took me 2 hours to figure out this morning. Can you believe some people think that quilting or making a quilt is just cutting fabric and sewing it back together? There is so much planning and designing involved and that can take days... The treadmill took forever today to march with ants. I wasn't into it, but I did it anyway. |
May17th Day 38 Yes, I had the days numbered wrong...who knew...Ugh, doesn't matter. That is what happens when you skip or two of writing and play catch up. I am trying to be better at this. It has been a busy day. 30 minute walk on the treadmill and an hour of quilting, all before work. Had to stop and call mom and wish her happy birthday, turns out she had been doing the same, up walking and already sewing...great minds think alike. See ya tomorrow. |
May 16th Day 36 Though I decided on the quilt layout, deciding the exact color placement is creating a bit of a problem at the moment. I will return to it tomorrow. I have about got it nailed together so that I can commence cutting. Effortless walk today. Pandora saved me from the ants. |
May 15th Day 35 I can't shake the visual of the ants side by side as I walk on the treadmill and it had me in a giggling fit until I had to stop and start again. One must never get into a coughing fit while walking on a treadmill, you can fall off the edge and seriously hurt yourself. Do be careful while using exercise equipment. As for the quilting, I have spent the afternoon on the Nightmare quilt and am getting excited about it. I showed Kristal the top and she is very excited. |
