& General elvishness and merriment.
My husband has promised to make me some non-E rated chocolate truffles for Christmas this year. I wish I could tell you what they are, but your blog is E rated.
Yes, I love the silly presents too. When my friends and I were all students, we used to do a 'budget Christmas' where we had to buy something ridiculously cheap for each other. They almost always ended up silly or rude. Was hilarious. This year, my husband bought a stuffed toy (or more like a cushion) which looks like the poop emoji, for our 15 year old son. Can't wait for him to open that one!
I think the "open one present every half hour" is a great idea! I've never done it before but it sounds fantastic on paper! Hope it works out well for your family.
I like your list of 4 things; mine is just slightly different.
Something they want Something they need Something practical (like a toothbrush!) Something fun/silly (the laughs you get from these are the real presents, I think!)
I always go overboard for Christmas. I spend far too much and buy far too many presents. But... I can't help it. Every year I tell myself not to go overboard this year, and every year I do. I just love Christmas, I love shopping, I love seeing their faces when they open presents... I just love the whole thing.
This year we're trying something new - the kids can only open one present every half hour. It's to make the fun last longer. It was an idea from a friend, so we're trying it out this year and will see how it goes.
There's a lady on FB who has brought her children 92 presents EACH (she has 3 kids) which anyone would say is too much, but on the other hand, her kids get NOTHING throughout the year and have to wait until Christmas for all their wants/needs, so maybe that's fair? Anyway, for most of us working class citizens, there is no such thing as too much (unless you go into debt to buy them and that's a whole other story) so I say enjoy!
Ooh, I love Jamie Oliver's recipes!! I was just thinking of making my own stash of hot chocolate this year so it's nice to see your take on this yummy recipe! Keep them coming -- you're halfway through your blogging challenge already!
