July 22, 2015 I'm going to start today to record on a daily basis whatever happens to strike my fancy. So, it is a very cool breezy day. I just posted 5 short book reviews to The Monthly Reading Challenge. I'm suppose to put away some winter wood today from the woodpile outside but I'm playing hookey from work to write so starting this blog will get done. I'm having a daily fight with a flock of English Sparrows that are trying to take over my barn. They are making a terrible mess so they have to go. I have destroyed several nests so far they don't leave but they get out of the barn when I am around. I'm just starting the fight so I guess I don't know how far I have to go to discourage them. I'm trying not to spread myself to thin on WDC because I find so many things that are interesting here and I am trying to work on a new story. I really enjoy sitting at my desk with a cup of tea and reading blogs on WDC. |
| Spring plans: I have not solidified my plans yet. I have been cleaning off and on during the winter months. I have a lot of things that need to be removed. Old Tecnologies need to be recycled, a tool room needs to be replaced in the barn. The basement family room is starting to look better now. The thought of spring gives me reason to start planning the garden. We have a fairly successful container garden that will have to be replanted. Container gardening suits me because there are not any weeds and lots of yummy fresh foods to eat. I would like to spray the few apple trees still growing in the yard this year and maybe plant a new apple tree. A fruit tree orchard has been a thought for several years just have not made it work yet. We will see how things work out in finances. Seeing some patches of green grass outside today. It is supposed to rain all day. That would take down some of the snow I bet. See Ya. ![Merit Badge in BCoF 2

Write about an adult coloring book. Hi!  I like to color. I have some coloring books. One is mandalas, one is wildflowers which is a book to identify different wildflowers, one is stained glass designs, somewhere I have a biology one for identification of different biological species. I also have a bird book about how to build birds that fly like paper airplanes only different species of birds and of course you have to color them because they are made from the scratch. Coloring can be soothing if you are stressed. I like the ones about identifying species of any type because you learn as you color. I prefer ink coloring pencils, but I have crayons and colored pencil sets too. Have a great day. The dogs and I are still house bound because although the weather is warmer and easier to deal with. The house and driveway are ringed with deep ice, which is difficult to navigate, although I do travel across it to fill the bird feeders. |

I don't see a change in my life at the moment. Except the weather has taken a turn for better. High winds right now. Also, higher temperatures. A change at the moment would probably involve other people. This month flew by it is almost over. We have robins at the feeders. Not really early for them just still lots of snow out there. | What's your favorite muffin? What do you do to be comfy? What's your favorite cherry dessert? And finally share a favorite pet story if you have one. Don't have a favorite muffin. Tried a recipe for blueberry apple sauce muffins not long ago turned out delicious. Especially like cherry cheesecake. not often because of high calories. My son had a large ginger cat as a pet. I was raising chickens for eggs. We had a hen house in the yard, I let the hens out to graze one day. In the evening at feeding time, I chased them all back into the henhouse. One refused to return to the safety of the henhouse for the night. No matter how I moved to put her into the house she outmaneuvered me. The cat sat watching my efforts, which went on for half an hour. I was standing still trying to figure out what to do when the cat marched over to the hen and calmly chased her into the henhouse. No matter which way she turned the big ginger tomcat was there to push her the right direction. I closed the door of the hen house. I thanked the cat. See Ya. stay warm.  |

| I've included the article as well if you want to read more. How concerned are you that more and more of our younger peers have become dependent on AI? Do you use AI yourself? Hi. I actually asked AI a question that it answered wrong. I also looked into AI enough to know that all AI has a person managing everything it does. To put it bluntly AI is not on its own in any respect. There are still people involved in whatever it answers or does. Presently, it is not a threat if the human handlers are not a threat. I have not read the above-mentioned article. I hope this is not one of those "put it over the public," scenarios. Anyway, AI asked once if they could write my messages or articles, I declined. I tried to get to the article it said, "Article not found." I am on Microsoft Edge which often does not allow me to read things free. They are trying to contain anyone who will try to find facts to uphold news. Plus, I am skeptical about how AI could actually stop your independent thinking ability. Unless you just let it run your life and put your name on whatever it does. Sounds like a money-making scheme in some ways. I do like the program that is correcting my spelling and punctuation to some extent. |
| What was your favorite publication as a child/teen. Newspaper comics, perhaps, or a magazine, etc? Does it still exist? What was the draw for you? Hi. We did not have magazines around out house. A daily newspaper which dad brought home from work. The funnies were my fun read and still are. Lil Abner, Prince Valient, I liked his sister who ran around with a pack of Irish Wolfhounds following her, Little Orphan Annie, Archie, I still look the funnies up and read them online sometimes. I will read any of them. I also like political cartoons. I will usually read most of the funnies in the paper. bye. |

Constance Spry Write about this quote in your Blog entry today. Hi! I don't remember what year it was. Probably about 20 or more. I was outside on a February day, not wearing a coat. The sun was shining. The sap was running. I remember enjoying the weather after a heavy snow winter. I looked at the temperature when I went into the house it was 28 degrees outside. We had a really nice February that year. Now I wonder if my thermometer or memory is wrong. Most Februarys lately do not have temps in the 28 to 30 range. Today the sun is brightly shining. Present temperature is 19 degrees. We are having more sunshine daily, which makes me happy. The sun melts down some of the piled snow. Then the freezing temps hit in the night and put a glaze of ice on the top part of the melt. Our back yard is a two- or three-inch layer of ice from the backyard to the barn. Yesterday the walk to fill the bird feeders was a pure hazard. When I made it back to the house, I felt like an Antarctic explorer who conquered an iceberg. All this and no January thaw this year, Weather has its' own ideology. Bye. |
| My favorite Valentine: HI! My favorite Valentine is taped to my desk. My oldest granddaughter sent me a bug on a card when she was very young. If you wave the card back and forth the bug gets bigger or smaller. It says, " Let's bug out Valentine." It is a plastic card so will probably be around a long time. Valentines day still 10 days away. So, today is national thank a mail carrier day. Mail carriers in this climate have had a rough rural route to drive around this year. Today there is ice everywhere. Driving to and reaching those mailboxes along the road would be a challenge. God bless the mail carriers and keep them safe. Have a great day. If you find sunshine let it in. |
