I'm going to start today to record on a daily basis whatever happens to strike my fancy. So, it is a very cool breezy day. I just posted 5 short book reviews to The Monthly Reading Challenge. I'm suppose to put away some winter wood today from the woodpile outside but I'm playing hookey from work to write so starting this blog will get done.
I'm having a daily fight with a flock of English Sparrows that are trying to take over my barn. They are making a terrible mess so they have to go. I have destroyed several nests so far they don't leave but they get out of the barn when I am around. I'm just starting the fight so I guess I don't know how far I have to go to discourage them.
I'm trying not to spread myself to thin on WDC because I find so many things that are interesting here and I am trying to work on a new story. I really enjoy sitting at my desk with a cup of tea and reading blogs on WDC.
A fruit tree orchard is a dream of mine too. We do have a cherry tree but it's more ornamental than productive. I had planted some fig trees but an overzealous helper thought they were weeds and killed them.
I have two ginger cats, both are male. Macavity is 11 and Pumpkin is 3. Both have very strong personalities.
My son raises chickens and this young kitten appeared out of now where one afternoon. My son saw the tail up following the chickens around. He didn't give it much thought because he figured it was the neighbors kitten. He discovered the kitten in the henhouse nestled in the hay with one of the chickens. He put it outside and shooed it away. Only to find it there in the morning, so he called the neighbor who said they didn't have any kittens.
The kitten did live long in the henhouse because once my grandson saw the kitten he became a member of the family. His name is Tom, he still hangs out with the chickens during the day but comes inside to get dinner and sleep with CJ.
kare. Get a ski pole. It is what I use in winter can dig into snow and ice. Shows me snow depth and helps me have good footing on ice. Found mine years ago in the local Good Will store for cheap price.
Now I wonder how this works. After reading Queen Norma Jean, ours came in like a lamb so I expect it to leave like a lion, however, we just had a two-day snowstorm with temps in the low 30's. Now the sun is shining and expecting temps in the 60's before the day is over. This is the time of year I think the weather is fighting. Winter wants back in Spring is pushing it out. Lot of summer birds back. I heard the first ones singing in the dawn back in early February. Usually means an early spring. As far as Lyin and Lams go. This kind of weather is difficult on the weather apps because they say one thing at 4 a.m. and something else at 10 a.m. Just not sure where they get there forecast but, sometimes it isn't relevant to the area we live in. Spring forth be happy. See Ya,
What kind of flower would you like to plant? Where would you like to plant the flower?
Apondia
I planted mint in a flowerpot last week and the sunshine is making it grow up fast. I used to have a mint plant that lasted indoors in a hanging pot for several years. I would break off pieces and feed it to my parrots. I also dried it and used it for tea. The parrots like all kinds of green herbs as part of their treats. I would like to plant crocus. I have one crocus that comes up every year I would like to plant a whole bed of them maybe I will this year.
After a two-day snowstorm we are having whole days of sunshine. Good-bye snow hello spring. Have a good day. Bye.
