5. Write a letter to your younger self or older self, what will you tell them? Dear G. B., While you are still young, you should take a lot more risk. Don’t overdo it, but add more spice. Walk on the wild side, but don’t jump off bridges. Do every single thing you want to do that will not kill you because opportunity for those things only come once. Getting old is not all that it is cracked up to be. There are aches and pain, and loss of love ones. Things change, and not always for the better. Have your ten children. Yeah you will struggle to raise them, but in the end, your family will be the family you wanted, and you will be glad that you did. Freedom is in the mind, actions, and deeds that you choose to have and enjoy. No one can imprison you but you. So soar. Soar as high as your mind can take you, and then soar some more. You are the master of your destiny. Flaunt your face in polite society, and stick with the underlings, they are a lot more fun, and just might have the right idea on living. Be a lot freer. Although, the life you have lived is somewhat of a fairy tale, there is much more that you could have done had you known what you know today. Above all live, love, sing, dance, and enjoy every minute that you have while you are single. Don’t rush to be an adult. That will come, and it will last forever. Responsibility is forever yours once you reach that golden age of adulthood. So, G. B., get out there and do you. Don’t be afraid. You can make it in front of all odds. Take the ride, it is well worth it. Sincerely, G. B. |

Paul Lawrence Dunbar, and I would like to know why he wrote when "Malindy Sings," and what was it like to be poet and author in his time when Blacks were under such great depression. Yet, he was one of the first Black authors to try to earn a living as an author. He was a prolific writer. |
3. What is one thing that you would like a "do over" on? It is hard to come up with one thing that I would like to do over, so I am providing you with two, get married again, and return to Costa Rica. |
2. What is your favourite place to travel to or visit? My favorite place to travel and visit often is West Palm Beach/Pompano Beach, Florida, although I love visiting Georgia. My best vacation ever, was Costa Rica. |
1. What role have pets played in your life? In my early life, pets played a major role in my life. For a time I had lots of cats and dogs. They were my playmates. Once I left home, I had no pets in my life until I got married. Then I had a wonderful German shepherd, Tina. When Tina died, I swore off pets, in 2004, Foxy Grey walked into my life and has stayed the past many years. He is my cat. He is annoying, he is aggressive, and he is pushy. He is Foxy Grey. Loving and wonderful. He is the dog that thinks he is a cat, and I do not know what in this world I would do without him. |
7. List 10 things you will never do again and why. Another excellent question. 1. Loan my ex money – He is a hard pay master and will probably never pay all of my money back 2. Never get pregnant again – too old and that season has come and gone 3. Raise another child – that season too has come and gone 4. Ride a roller coaster – this may not be true. I think I would do this again, but haven’t in a number of years 5. Climb over the guard fence to get in a yacht with a perfect stranger and spend the evening with him – I was very young and foolish, but it was and is one of my best memories 6. Drive tractor trailers (18 wheelers) – My brother thought this was the best job in the world, and I could not be out done. It was the not best, but I had the best fun doing it and learning CB language. 7. Gambling on slot machines for two days and nights straight – learned about sleep deprivation and it “ain’t” pretty. I am also much older and have less income. 8. Take my friend to Las Vegas without her oxygen tank – She almost died on the plane when her oxygen level dropped below 74. Thank God the plane had oxygen on it. 9. Run for State Senator in the 47th – It has been changed to 47A. 10. Run for County Councilman – Considering getting out of politics. |
6. When was the last time you tried something new and what was it? That is a great question! Everything seems to have elements of something else, but I guess the last really knew thing that I did was learn to ride a Segway. I actually mastered it at first, but later ended up on the ground. A very nasty spill. LOL |
5. List your top ten favourite songs and why? Lord Don’t Move My Mountain, by Inez Andrews – It reminds me to stay strong, that with God’s help I can get through anything Rough Side of the Mountain, Rev F. C. Barnes and Janice Brown – It reminds of what I must do to make it through this life, even when things get rough. I Know Who Holds Tomorrow, Alberta Walker – It connects with my faith and beliefs. My Girl, the Temptations – My ex-husband used to sing it to me I am so Weak for You by Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes – Reminds me of a lover that I had to let go years ago. The Christmas Song, Nat King Cole – It was always played as the first Christmas Song to begin the Christmas Holiday Season. Please Come Home for Christmas, Charles Brown – Also played for Christmas to remind family to come home. Almost never missed a Christmas because of it. Drowning in a Sea of Love, Eva Cassidy and Chuck Brown – The song appeals to my romantic mind. What a Wonderful World, Eva Cassidy – a reminder of how wonderful life is, and how we should just stop and appreciate it. My Way, Frank Sinatra – Reminds me of a very happy time in my life, and the way I hope to live my life, and to have no regrets as I move forward. |
4. What inspires you or what makes you crazy A setting or rising sun inspires me no matter when I am privileged to see one. I want to take a picture of it, write about it or paint it. I am always in awe. Very few things make me crazy, but I hate it when people pop their chewing/bubble gum or men that do not take their caps/hats off when entering a house and/or sitting down at the table to eat. |
