Painting with words, some images I run across. Details for future writing. . . .
Chocolate Milk

Once or twice each week I search for chocolate milk as a choco-calcium treat. I know I'm not drinking as much milk as I used to due to a change in refrigerators.

Tonight I scored my plastic pint of chocolate milk from the dairy section at Albertson's Grocery Store. They have 4, 6, maybe 8 doors on their dairy section, arranged circa 1953. All the chocolate milk is together. I had two brands to select from at my .99 price goal. Along with my milk, I gathered original style potato salad, and a parfait Jello mold, chicken thighs, hamburgers, buns, lemonade and pet food for the weekend. I love hauling my groceries home in my truck. It's a 2008 GMC Sierra. I've discovered I can use it to attract men (I'm single). I love my truck, but it needs a bath. It doesn't have 8,000 miles on it yet. Tempted to know what it would bring in trade, but that's a lottery dream. And, of course, the Cowboys have a new scratch off game to coincide with the start of the football season. Some of the scratch off prizes are suites. Shoot! I don't think I could fill one.

After unpacking the other groceries, I started the bar-be-cue, then ploped down on my daybed, in front of the tv with my plastic pint of chocolate milk. I almost typed chocolate life, some kind of subconscious symbol or something. I have a ritual. Usually you have to give the lid a twist to break a plastic seal. I do that, and enjoy the chocolate richness and coolness of the rich nourishing liquid dairy staple. I love the taste it leaves in my mouth when I swallow it. After the first gulp I always shake it up.

I don't know what I enjoy more--shaking the plastic bottle like a frenzied child, or the actual consumption of the whole pint. It always fills my belly, and leaves a smile on my face.

Learn to enjoy simple pleasures. It will increase your smile power.
