This is just a small window into my chaotic yet lazy life. Oh, the life of an Information Technology Professional can be so exciting... Not so much, no. I'm a Fifty-something father of an amazing young man (I can't believe he's 20 now!), Atom and his brother, the Ever-Irish Finnegan (7 almost 8). I am married to my best friend and just wish I would have found her 15 years ago... I am a Geek, a Nerd and a Dork, but normal... I think. I DO collect comic books, on and off, as the money permits. I DO enjoy a good table-top RPG. I DO play MMORPG's and various other PC games. I DO live on the PC on numerous levels, but I think that we all do, to some degree. I was also in two rock bands that played in the Austin, TX area often, but I moved back to Southern California. I AM NOT a cowboy but I do own a farm in the mountains between Mojave and Bakersfield, I'm more of a Southern California Punk, if one were to generalize me.  Not to mention that I AM  Irish Which some would say explains a lot  Rambling, Ranting, Rating and several other "R" words can be found within these pages... There will also be Venting, Musings, Thoughts and Theories as well. While I cannot guarantee the validity of any of it , I can tell you that the topics shall range from  Love to  Science to  Paranormal Research to  Politics to  Writing ; no subject is taboo.Hooked yet? If you're not hooked in yet, just wait, someone may win a  MILLION DOLLARS!!!! Not here or by reading this blog, but somewhere in the world someone will win a MILLION DOLLARS!!! ...at some point... | So the show last night went well. There was hardly anyone there so we called it a dress rehearsal for our show on the 14th @ Red Eyed Fly and then for the Battle of the Bands on the 27th. Maybe :) Oh yeah, and I resurrected the next installment of my very first campfire, Finnegan Ford, Adventurer. | The show went really well on Wednesday!!! We played with our friends, Phoenix Saga, and it was a blast. | Hey all! Playing a show tonight @ The Carousel Lounge in Downtown Austin, TX. We are opening for another local band that we met at out Beauty Bar show a couple months ago. They rock! The Main singer / guitarist sings like John Popper from Blues Travelers. :) The calendar says it's a VMS gig but it's actually a Jay Satellite show. | So as much of a Sci-fi fan as I am, I have a confession to make... Until Saturday, I have never seen one episode of the new Battlestar Galactica series. I know, right? I just recently... Ummm... Acquired... Season One.  I have to say that I'm impressed. Frakkin' impressed! It's not that I didn't want to watch this series, there were just other shows that I wanted to watch more but, for the life of me, I can't remember what they were at the moment. This show started in 2004 and went through 2008. Now there is Caprica, which I believe is the beginnings of the Cylons. Admittedly, I am old enough to remember watching the original series when it was new. I watched this along with Buck Rogers in the 25th Century. I do predict a redo of that series as well but have no confirmation of that at this time. I liked the cliff-hanger ending and am finding it hard to fathom that Commander Adama will survive, though I know he will. It's almost as if I know the future! :p Next up... Season 2 :D Steve |
| So one of my bands had a major setback this week. :( Here's the skinny: My singer, Jay, just got excommunicated (Yes, really... What fucking century do we live in?) from his church. This happened because they had been increasingly coming down hard on him for playing music... I'm guessing rock music. He belonged to the Church of Christ, clearly a cult (and I am being really nice right now). I guess they don't do music at all. Even the hymns they sing are without music. Well, as a result of his believing that his musical ability is a gift from god (not capitalized because I am an Atheist [Hardcore Science]), he wrote them a nice letter saying that he will be leaving this parish and was not sure if he would be back. Instead of them just leaving well enough alone and letting him leave on his own accord, they excommunicated him and called all of the other members of the congregation and basically told them not to associate themselves with him. WTF!?!?! And people wonder why I have a problem with organized religion... Principle, honor and integrity. All of which they have none of. Anyway, the drummer and his family go to the church and now we have a show on Monday at a fairly good venue in Downtown Austin and no drummer. Luckily Jay and I can do a set with a drum machine and it will sound okay. We also are giving another drummer an audition tomorrow and I hope that he can pull it off. Man I want a smoke... I won't of course, it has been 10 weeks today that I have been smoke free and I feel great. So there you have it. Blah... Steve |
| For the first time in almost a month, I will have the house to myself for more than 24 hours :) My Ex, her boyfriend and my son, Atom are going to the Houston Area to see her Mom and Gramma. Whatever will I do? Well, I really need to read and judge my contest, plus I want to read more of my friends novel... I should probably also write some... Then there is cleaning and *sigh*... I knew I wouldn't get any rest while they're gone.... :( Oh well... I hope everyone is doing good!!! | So last night we played Red Eyed Fly in Downtown Austin, TX. It went pretty good. The Singer / Guitarist got out of tune and cost us a couple songs but crap happens when you play live.
