This is just a small window into my chaotic yet lazy life. Oh, the life of an Information Technology Professional can be so exciting... Not so much, no. I'm a Fifty-something father of an amazing young man (I can't believe he's 20 now!), Atom and his brother, the Ever-Irish Finnegan (7 almost 8). I am married to my best friend and just wish I would have found her 15 years ago... I am a Geek, a Nerd and a Dork, but normal... I think. I DO collect comic books, on and off, as the money permits. I DO enjoy a good table-top RPG. I DO play MMORPG's and various other PC games. I DO live on the PC on numerous levels, but I think that we all do, to some degree. I was also in two rock bands that played in the Austin, TX area often, but I moved back to Southern California. I AM NOT a cowboy but I do own a farm in the mountains between Mojave and Bakersfield, I'm more of a Southern California Punk, if one were to generalize me.  Not to mention that I AM  Irish Which some would say explains a lot  Rambling, Ranting, Rating and several other "R" words can be found within these pages... There will also be Venting, Musings, Thoughts and Theories as well. While I cannot guarantee the validity of any of it , I can tell you that the topics shall range from  Love to  Science to  Paranormal Research to  Politics to  Writing ; no subject is taboo.Hooked yet? | Unless you do this for your job, blogging is really hard to keep... scratch that, remember to update. Update... Found the One! The woman I will marry. She is amazing! We got matching tattoos, kind of. They say the same thing but are unique to our character. Mine is black computer font (old school blocky font) that says amor infinitus with a green infinity symbol abound it, her's is the same but with flowers and generally not as geeky as mine. I have decided that I will sleeve my arm with circuit board eventually. Also I will be moving back ti Cali this summer so we can be together on a more permanent basis. Started going to the gym several days a week and feel pretty good. Changed eating habits, or trying to change (lets be realistic :p) My love is an RN, a Personal Trainer and Nutritionist so she is helping me a lot. :) Anyway, just wanted to update :) Steve |
| Well... Yesterday was my 40th B-Day - Funny... I don't feel older :p Thank to all my WdC friends on FB who wished me a Happy B-Day. | Well, it has been quite a while since I updated my WdC blog. Life has been pretty busy I guess and priorities have shifted. The new job is good, but busy. It's usually five ten hour days and some weekend work as well. The pay is not great but I guess I have a job, right? Telecom is a tough bird and has been since I started in it about 11 years ago. Things change very often in this field. I do love technology though and, apparently, am decent at understanding, implementing and supporting it. Right now I am a Service Delivery Coordinator for an Austin Telecom Company that owns millions of fiber miles in Texas. I basically coordinate the ordering, provisioning, design and delivery of T-1 & DS3 circuits as well as the Voice Services that usually reside on them. I also coordinate the availability of the customer's voice and data vendors for purposes of extending demarcation points, running cable and configuring phone systems. It's a kewl job! My band is still going strong though we have been in a short hiatus as we progress to the next level of "Bandship." We are not playing as much but we are getting paid to play now. So that's all good. I hope everyone is doing well and will be enjoying the upcoming Holidays. I will try not to take so long next time. Steve |

| Hey all! Sorry that I have been away for so long, a lot has happened. :\ First, the band that I am in is doing really well and takes up much of my time. We are playing in Austin, Bryan / College Station and Houston and have had some really good shows lately! Second, I am going through a divorce. It wasn't supposed to be like this, it was supposed to be a mutual divorce that we did ourselves and 50/50 custody. Now she has gotten a lawyer and is getting child support and I have to pay for his medical premium. The money is not the issue, the issue is that for the last nine years we have agreed that if we ever separate that we would do everything ourselves. The real issue is that her new BF is an idiot and has convinced her to do everything she can to fuck with me. I have a feeling that shortly after she moved in with him into a new apartment that he lost his job and now they need money. This is just a guess, of course, but it wouldn't surprise me. So $700 / Month later out of my check... I did manage to get the most liberal visitation Texas Law will allow; every first, third and fifth weekend and every Thursday overnight. Lastly I am spending a lot of time with my new GF. I am so glad that she and Atom get along very well. That would be a deal breaker if you know what I mean. Atom is my priority. So, to everyone who reads this, all two of you, never assume that you know someone, even if it has been one way for more than thirteen years... They are not the person you thought you knew. Steve |
| This last week has been one of the best in a very, very long time. To recap: I got and started a new job last week. It's Telecom, which is my niche field. I really like it and the people are great! Itis quite a high learning curve as my last job I had, for almost 6 years, was heavy on the Data side while this is heavy on the voice side. I like it though and appreciate the challenge. Friday we had a gig at a bar directly across from UT (University of Texas, Austin) called The Varsity Bar. It went really well and we were told that we were the best band of the three that played and were invited to come back anytime. The sound was good and we were the most relaxed I think we have ever been for a show. More importantly I have met a really great girl, let's called her E for now. I spent the whole weekend with her and I haven't had so much fun in a long time. She is becoming increasingly important to me and I very much "In Like" with her. My soon-to-be-Ex moved out of the house so now I have it all to myself. Her and her boyfriend, whom I can't stand, left the house in such a messy state though. I came home for a few hours on Sunday and was appalled. There were several things that were done, presumably by him and without her knowledge, to mess with me which I won't get into now. I am tackling the mess one room at a time and hope to move over into the master tonight after rehearsal. I also won't a contest, First Place, for a new story I wrote: "Invalid Item"  .Here's to another great week! Steve |

| This week has been pretty wonderful. First, I got a job! It is a good job and it's in Telecom doing pretty much what I was doing at my last job. This time, however, it's a little more on the voice side, but they hired me for my data skill set. I guess they want to get more involved in data, who can blame them, that's where the money is. So that is the first good news. I start Monday. The best news is that I met someone whom I really like. I am pretty sure she likes me too. I had such a great time last night. She is so smart, witty and beautiful. How lucky am I? Very lucky. :D We are playing in Battle of the Bands this Sunday and have another gig at a swank downtown club on 7.2.2010. :) Lots of gigs in July! yay! Steve |
