This is just a small window into my chaotic yet lazy life. Oh, the life of an Information Technology Professional can be so exciting... Not so much, no. I'm a Fifty-something father of an amazing young man (I can't believe he's 20 now!), Atom and his brother, the Ever-Irish Finnegan (7 almost 8). I am married to my best friend and just wish I would have found her 15 years ago... I am a Geek, a Nerd and a Dork, but normal... I think. I DO collect comic books, on and off, as the money permits. I DO enjoy a good table-top RPG. I DO play MMORPG's and various other PC games. I DO live on the PC on numerous levels, but I think that we all do, to some degree. I was also in two rock bands that played in the Austin, TX area often, but I moved back to Southern California. I AM NOT a cowboy but I do own a farm in the mountains between Mojave and Bakersfield, I'm more of a Southern California Punk, if one were to generalize me.  Not to mention that I AM  Irish Which some would say explains a lot  Rambling, Ranting, Rating and several other "R" words can be found within these pages... There will also be Venting, Musings, Thoughts and Theories as well. While I cannot guarantee the validity of any of it , I can tell you that the topics shall range from  Love to  Science to  Paranormal Research to  Politics to  Writing ; no subject is taboo.Hooked yet? If you're not hooked in yet, just wait, someone may win a  MILLION DOLLARS!!!! Not here or by reading this blog, but somewhere in the world someone will win a MILLION DOLLARS!!! ...at some point... | How did that song go? "...another day older and deeper in debt..." 41 today... Funny, I don't feel older. It's not like thre is some magic hour that passes when you feel a new year has sprung upon you. But, alas, I am not 40 any more.. Now I am in my 40's or 40-something. Working today when normally I take the day off if it falls on a weekday but it's okay. I like my job and the other White Glove Support person in this building is a pretty cool dude. At least the other person who works in this office is out today... It must be my birthday!! Yay! Sushi tonight with my Finacee and then we are going out to get a beer or two somewhere. After that, I was reminded this morning, I get a private dance... WOOHOO!!!  So, for the rest of the work day I am sitting around waiting for tickets to come in and wander the BofA halls looking for stuff to do. Maybe a movie will be in order later since I brought my laptop... Who knows. TTYL! Dawg |
| As crazy as life can be sometimes with Work, Family and Pleasure... Now we have both gilrs that made the Tournament Soccer Team and I couldn't be prouder of them. It is a lot of travelling and upfront monies, but worth it. So... I help coach her youngest son's soccer team, The Ninja Turtles, and then we games for him every Saturday. Her girls are still in regluar season so they have games on Saturdays as well. My life is Work, Gym and Soccer, it seems. Hope all is well! Steve |

On behalf of "Invalid Item"  I have created a new contest which will be the first in a series of contests:
All of the contests will be Short Sci-Fi Stories Contest of 1000 words or less. This one is all about Terraforming - Changing a planet or moon to match the atmosphere and ecology of earth. We already have some great entries and I encourage everyone interested in Sci-Fi to enter. I also created a new Blog, outside of WdC - It is called Evildawg's EvilBlog - http://astronewz.blogspot.com/ Check it out and share it with your friends. I hope everyone is having a great summer!!! | The Love of my Life and my Son have very close birthdays. Since I have had him all summer, we decided to celebrate his birthday (which is actually 8/8 - after he goes back to his Mom's in TX) this last weekend with my Fiancee and her family who usually celebrate everyone's birthday in a given month on one day in the month. It was a whole lot of fun!!! First, on Saturday, I took them to Paradise Cove Cafe in Malibu, CA (Her favorite place and his favorite beach). we ate good... Damn Good Eggs for me, Carrot Cake Waffles for her and Apple Pie Pancakes for her Mom. The kids had Kids Pancakes and no one ate them all. The best part is that the cafe and table sit actually on the sand of the beach!!! Next we got changed into our swim suits and hung out on the beach for a couple hours and the kids went body surfing and boogie boarding. Once we showered and changed, we headed to Los Angeles to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art to go see the Tim Burton Exhibit http://www.lacma.org/art/exhibition/tim-burton. This was amazing and just exactly what she wanted to do. We need to go back, just the two of us, and go to this again and stay a little longer. After the museum we went to Genwa Korean BBQ on Wilshire and had some awesome food. This place was really cool! I had never been to a Korean BBQ so this was a unique experience for me. Once Sunday rolled around, we went to her parents house and dropped the kids off so we could go to the little liquor store and get her Dad some one-of-a-kind beers from around the world like: Monty Python's Holy Grail - Dark Knights Perserve and Sierra Nevada's Harvest Ale. My parents came and both parents met for the first time. The party was fun and Atom go a lot of science toys like the Star Wars Death Star Planetarium and the Mega Science Lab. Life is good and I am glad that I have had Atom all summer and have found the woman I want to spend the rest of my life with. Next stop... San Francisco for our Family Reunion this next weekend. Until then!!! |
| I have to rant a little about some reviews I have gotten recently. One, in fact, is quit disturbing and while I am used to it to a certain degree, having been wandering the hallowed halls of WdC for almost 2 years, I still get a bit miffed about it. I got a review for my most reviewed short story:
The reviewer just copied paragraphs from the story and wrote them back to me. There was no Original Thought at all in this review... This is frustrating because I give out Auto-Awards on reviews over 250 characters. When I review something I try to be constructive and encouraging; the traits that WdC was founded on and why I love it here so much. If you want an example of a good review, here ya go: Review of "Jetstreams"  -- I found errors and generally liked the story. I was supportive and encouraging while still pointing out, what I felt were, errors.This review that I am talking about that got me miffed is here (it may be pulled as I copied The StoryMaster  on my reply to the user): Invalid Review Okay, I guess I am done ranting for a while. have a great day!!! | Well... it has been a long time since I posted but a lot has happened. I moved back to California for a girl. I have my son, Atom with me for the summer and am really enjoying that. I have an interview with NASA tomorrow, wish me luck on that. More later! Steve |
