This is just a small window into my chaotic yet lazy life.

Oh, the life of an Information Technology Professional can be so exciting... Not so much, no.

I'm a Fifty-something father of an amazing young man (I can't believe he's 20 now!), Atom and his brother, the Ever-Irish Finnegan (7 almost 8). I am married to my best friend and just wish I would have found her 15 years ago... I am a Geek, a Nerd and a Dork, but normal... I think. I DO collect comic books, on and off, as the money permits. I DO enjoy a good table-top RPG. I DO play MMORPG's and various other PC games. I DO live on the PC on numerous levels, but I think that we all do, to some degree. I was also in two rock bands that played in the Austin, TX area often, but I moved back to Southern California. I AM NOT a cowboy but I do own a farm in the mountains between Mojave and Bakersfield, I'm more of a Southern California Punk, if one were to generalize me.

Have you driven from.there to Tahoe? Its rely pretty once you get on the highway going east. kind of far away though.

Update: She will still either come home for weekends or we will go there for the weekend. It's right by Tahoe and Truckee so that might not suck...

Umm I got cut off somehow. Anywho. We had three rock cornish cross to be raised for meat. We didn't try to treat them like y
oets, but somehow I got attached anyway by just watching them grow Time came and went for them to be butchered, but I didn't have the heart to do it. So I postponed it. Then our farmer friend said if we didnt do it they'd die anyway because they get too heavy to walk around.

One died while out in the rain. Foot so e reason couldn't get into the chicken coop..I was sick a out that. Poor thing. Two lived but again I still had to deal with the problem. I decided and let the farmer take them but he decided to give us some of the meat.

Since my kids knew about this we didn't have chicken for over a month and then I bought some from the store. When it came time to cook I never told them I'd used the chicken wed raised. I ga e to say it was delicious. Even more so than store bought.

But honestly it was like grieving knowing they had to go. We only had one baby rooster thinking he wouldn't be too loud. Haha. Yeah right. Even though we lived in a little country town they still had ordinances about that noise.

We may have gave the rooster away. Our chicken were safe from predators. We used baby crib bed springs and such for the chicken run. With a top on it too..They loved it. Sometimes we let them out in the yard to pick through the grass like they do. then made them go inside the coop for the night.

It was lots of fun and we easily got plenty of good sized eggs out of it. Ea h of those chickens were different all the good ones but miniatures-- buff orpingtona, barred rock, rhode island red. I especially liked the fluffy ones.

,My oldest son was a teen then and he had a smallish chicken that would come over and sit on his knee.

Unfortunately after a few years the owner of the house decided to sell the house. We had to get out. It was esoe islky uwe enpsetting for my oldest son.

Where we had to move was into the city onand so we couldn't have the chickens. We ended up giving them away to the farmers daughter. Who lived not far from the farmer. Farmer had his own chickens so ours could end up pecked On.

Regardless, I'm glad we did get to experience that.

Did you eat at Pier 39. One of my favorite restaurants is on the left side upstairs as you go on Pier 39.. I'm not sure what it's called now because I think the named changed. Chic's maybe?

It has a great view of the bay. Out the giant plate windows you first see the boats docked there bobbing around , then a lighthouse, and further on is the Golden Gate Bridge (which is lit up at night) , and I believe Alcatraz is in view too (some place I've not been to yet and I live up here).

It's been a while so I kind of forget, but I do remember being their at sunset and it was gorgeous how golden light shimmered across the small waves, which lapped against the sides of the boats..

For one of my oldest son's birthday we went there with his girlfriend, and my other son.

Brings back memories. I can almost hear the cawing of the seagulls hanging around and that sea air on my face. I may have to take a train ride and visit it again soon.I kind of like that strip of shops across the way. You can buy some cheap souveniers (I can never spell that right), a nice leather jacket or a hoodie there fairly cheap too. My son wants a leather jacket, but I think they look bad once they start getting worn out so I'm reluctant to buy him one.

Best Review Ever!

I wanted to share a review I received today for The Journey:

When I review a short story or poem I look for two things: Depth and Accessibility. Accessibility being how reader friendly the work is. Now as a reader I have seen many amazing works of art, showing true perception and beauty. Unfortunately many of said works seemed far to wordy for the casual reader. Not that this makes the works any less brilliant; It simply means that the message the author is trying to portray reaches a lesser audience.

But your work was different. Somehow you manage to capture beauty, depth, profound insight, and marvelous simplicity in one amazing package. You have maintained the careful balance between the complex and the simple, and in the process created a work of magnificence.

Overall Synopsis: Excellent writing. I give this full marks.

Rating included: 5.0 stars out of 5.0 stars. (Note: A 3.0 is Average.)

Sick Sucks

Well I can say with absolute certainty that being sick sucks. Not being able to sleep, waking up at 3am... No good at all.

Now, it seems, I'm fighting a fever, luckily we have tons of Tylenol so that's helping.

Anyway, I'm sure I'll feel better soon.

Meat Salesmen

Coming from Southern California I still think it odd that people come, door to door, selling meat. Apparently this is perfectly normal for Central Texas. These Salesmen are, for the most part, scoundrels; or as I like to call them, Salesmen.

When they come to the door they are always either one sale short of quota or someone flaked out and their boss told them to cut the price in half. They never have an extra brochure to leave me, but they will always be back tomorrow. They never come back.

Having said all of these negative things about Meat Salesmen, I have to admit that the meat is really good! Oh yes, I bought meat from a roving vendor twice since living in Texas and once from Omaha Steaks. Good price and assortment.

Steaks for days!
