A little corner where I can post my thoughts and opinions on things that matter to writers. If someone gaines insight, knowledge, or even just enjoyment from reading this time to time, then my mission is accomplished. :)
If there is a specific Writing, Publishing, Marketing, or other related topic that you would like to see me address, feel free to shoot me an email. Or if you would like to comment on what I have said, email me about that too. :)
thanks RD i keep coming back to this blog for the little nuggets u give so freely... im working on my dialog content by just try'n hold a conversation with just 4 members or rehashing a conversation i have during the day....what are some of the way you have used to perfect your dialog technique...
Interesting points that you make here. It's always so tempting in fantasy to just create a boundless world where anything and everything you dream of can happen.
I must admit I have not ready many of her books, but I wondered when I saw MacMillan listed as the principal author on another site for this book. Perhaps she is more less letting someone else write about her ideas, letting them take her basic vision and ideas and breath life into it. In which case, if you have read her 'solo' books, the newer ones could be a let down in a way, not seeing the same style and not having the same 'feeling' from the book, or as you so nicely put, you don't hear her 'voice' in it. I might have to seek out some of the books that she wrote as the sole author and see what kind of comparison I come up with. :)
Hm...Ms Kurtz USED to write really excellant books. I don't think she is doing much of the writing anymore. I have read her co-authored books and didn't hear her "voice" in them at all. What do you think?
Good Morning and welcome to Blogville! I have just finished reading all four of your entries and I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed each of them.
As for this first entry, well I am like you, I have been writing stories since childhood. I find that most of my stories start as this little niggle at the back of my brain...half-formed idea or single scene. It begins to grow over the days that follow, until I have to get it out of my head by putting words to paper.
That is when the characters come to life and their world takes form...I call it "Magic time".
I guess I don't write for fame or fortune because the fact that I have published but one short story rules out both of those. No, I do it for the sheer joy of creating a story, a world, a group of characters, from whole-cloth.
It is only in the last few years I have begun to entertain the notion that someone might actually pay for what I do...we shall see where that leads.
Anyway, I wanted to welcome you to the blog page, your blog is very informative and an easy read about a subject which everyone here on this site for writers should have an interest in. When you have the time, make the rounds and read and comment to some other blogs and before you know it, you will have tons of folks in here following your own blog.
I look forward to reading more of your blog in the comming days and months.
