A bit gory, depending on how vivid your imagination is. About ancient event in a clearing.
Woad

A clearing in a wood. It holds secrets, not like our modern day. There are stones that stand high with knowledge and pride. This is what they have seen.

The magnificent stones are hardly visible through the mist. The misty tendrils twist and turn and creep with a mind of their own. Amongst them woad stained people gather. Ever since they were born they have used this dye. It is a comforter, a preserver. The emblems on their bodies depict gods and serpents not quite of our time.

There is a growing hubbub of noise as people start to clash their spears. They know what they are waiting for. The noise continues. How long can it be sustained? The smells of crushed grass and unwashed bodies squeezed together mixes strongly while the earth vibrates as people march with excitement.

There is silence. One by one into the clearing float some unearthly druids. They assemble behind a large, stained rock. All of them are as old as time and have long straggling white locks of hair. A prisoner is pushed towards them. His hands are bound behind his back. To the watchers he is naked, even though he has a loin cloth on, because he has no woad stained upon his skin.

The head druid calls out in a harsh dialect. Willing hands grab the prisoner and lay him out on the altar. A knife is given and raised above him. There is no escape for him as the moon illuminates his pale skin and gives him a ghostly quality like those that he will soon join. The blade presses slowly down upon his throat, as the blood trickles out and then faster and faster until the man gives out his last gasp.

The druids lead out of the clearing, their robes soaked wine red. The crowd that has gathered disappears slowly until there are only a few lingering people. Now no one is there. A camper may use the stone as a bed, knowing nothing of its history.
