3 Times A Week I'll post something here with links about work done to Get Published

This blog is all about my journey toward publication. My goal is to write three entries per week, each about work I've done to forward my journey. When there is a relevant link I'll post it in my entry. One of the categories I put this in is travel, because this is like a trip. I'm entering into unknown territory and exploring for joys and trials I've never encountered before. Some of the things I do on my journey will be familiar, but some will be completely foreign. One thing is certain. This journey is being taken for both enjoyment and self improvement and it's sure to be eventful!

Well, did you finish it? Or are you already on chapter 8 or 9?

I'm lucky that my poetry is short and that I write every day. I just put it aside when it frustrates me and go back later ... or never! Because by then ... I'm on to something else. Novels are different though.

Some of my poems fall into "books" though and those I never quite seem to finish ... so don't think I'm mean ... I've got plenty I need to work on, work through, and finish too.

Rejections are good ... for wallpaper, and toilet paper when you run out ...

... just keep editing, revising, learning about which mag needs what, and submitting. We all can use extra tp.

And you will get published.

Very good point. To know what is YA, you must read it and live it. Hang around some of the age group and observe. If you write a short story have them read it and value their responses. If it is a novel, choose a chapter.

I write poetry, LOTS of it, most of it short, so what I write has different audiences. It's not always easy or apparent what poem works best for which audience though ... I'm not one of the literati, but I have stuff even they would like.

For instance: I have a friend who loves hockey ... so I wrote some hockey poems! When three were published I sent him the copy of the magazine. Wicked ... but it was my way of connecting with someone I love dearly but who is very different from me. I'm a gardener; he ain't. He skates; I have weak ankles. His son just turned 5, so guess who has been writing silly children's poems?

As writers and human beings we do what we can and must ...

I loved reading Harry Potter, btw. I'd be a Hufflepuff

M, you're a star!! I am so impressed with this skill of yours.
I once worked as a translator for a computer game firm. All the programmers, designers were totally crazy!!! I am happy to know one who is more sane

Unbelievable!!
I would suggest you go and see these people in person!! Take a lawyer! Contact a consumers' association!
This is scary, M!!

Here is one thing I have found so far that you need to take notice of.

"What's the difference between exclusive and non-exclusive?
Exclusive: You guarantee that the submission has not been previously published (either online or in print) and will not be published elsewhere in the future. Once accepting our offer, you assign full copyright ownership to AC.

Non-Exclusive: Submissions can be previously published either in print or online. If we find it online, the byline must match your AC account. You retain the right to re-publish your non-exclusive AC content."

Don't send them anything that you may want to publish somewhere else with and Exclusive agreement. From what I read on their site they pay $3 to $20 dollars with their first upfront offer if they like your article. Then a bonus payment for how much traffic your article receives.
