I guess you should change your item rating to XGC and watch out for your wife kicking you out some day. I'd be more discreet about this passion. Did you try getting the same pleasure from art: either by looking at paintings or painting? Your energy would be better used..just an opinion of course.
J, I guess the thought of caring about animals by the locals is a good one, but when they go overboard like this apparently did, well some just feel the nned for power.....Hell they don't get paid much so the power is their compensation.
It seems she could have been a little more reasonable....so if you left the air on, you would have to leave the vehicle running and then some passer by might steal it and your dogs too! I guess that would worry me!
On the other hand, 80 degrees would be considered very hot in my neck of the woods and I would not have brought an animal with me. Of course our 80 degrees comes with high humidity so it would be dangerous.

You both might be better off without each other, but for the kids' sake no matter if you two divorce, you should continue to be in their daily life. That is if you care not to hurt them for life. You should not pack and go, counting on them forgetting you. They won't. And most likely you won't either.
