How to Read the Tarot

Begin by brewing a cup of tea,
a nervine, lemon balm or chamomile,
this is after all, your future.
A reading at the dark of the moon is best,
before the night creatures crawl
and bad humours fill the air.
Pick a circular deck, with a fairy-tale motif,
and no reversals.
Hold a question in your heart,
shuffle the cards and place them on the table.
Choose only two.
Like the ancient Israelites,
these are your seer stones, Urim and Thumimm,
black and white, yes or no.
Isn't that all you were asking?

Hurricane Helene

the blade goes in the earth, against the storm
it all smells of salt and rain
ancient ways, modern pain

On this fall Monday
I do not need
Donald Drumpf to protect me.
I make my own cup of tea.
I have never gone
strictly by the book
and won't start now.
My rage is three howls long
and my heart and limbs
quiver with anger.
I do not have to be
somebody's something.

Strange Loops

On a rainy day
I cannot see
the sun or stars
though they are there
in Grandmother Spider's web.
I am enmeshed
in this dance of creation
of strange spiral loops
with no end, no beginning.
I am witness
to this tidy prison.
But there is freedom
and there is love.

White Pumpkins

A dumb supper
for Samhain, my birthday.
Black tablecloths, white pumpkins
a river of sorrows
in my kitchen.
I invite my friends
that passed this year.
In the silence
I may hear then whisper,
"We are not gone,
just away."
"It is not cruel to say,
we will meet again,
as dust on white pumpkins."

Happy Birthday writing.com

Writing.com called me
and I answered
with story and poem,
heartache and bliss,
thunder and memory,
and leaping nano particles.
Happy Birthday to all the beings here.
My arms cradle you,
my breath whispers
prayers of grace to you.
That is how we roll
in writing.com world.

taking up space on the mothership

I love my face in the morning
no teeth, bed head, the day dawning.
Just a baby-faced naked clown,
I refuse to put myself down.
Crow's feet, double chin, smile and frown lines I embrace.
You just see an old, old woman, I love my face.

I love my body at nighttime,
uncoiled tension, full recline.
What dreams may come I do not know.
Ghosts, phantasms, nightmares come , go..
I am an ecotone, a swamp witch, swamp molly.
Flaccid arms, flabby belly, I love my body.
