Oh, Canada!
Oh Canada!

In my experience
on the net
the Canadians
are the nicest yet.
It could be the weather,
that terrible frost,
that keeps them indoors
whatever the cost,
but something up there
is making them smile
and, whatever they do,
they’re never so vile
as to say a rude word
or venture a cuss.
The thing is I have to,
the word is I must,
raise more than a smile
on Jayne’s pretty face,
and I’ve failed in getting laughs
from that northern place.
Black squirrels,
or so I’ve been told,
came down here
from Canada’s cold;
it can’t have been easy
being black in that snow
but these guys are tough,
and they give blow for blow.
It’s become very clear
that they’re taking over -
soon they’ll be everywhere
from here to Andover.
But the word that I heard,
and we’d best all be aware,
the Canadians now have
a black polar bear!

Line Count: 36
Ummm, sorta free verse but every second line rhymes
