I decided to look for a small stone every day. They are nothing special, yet they are because I am visually aware of my surroundings. I am taking note of things in a way I never did before.
What do you do to make yourself visually aware of your surroundings? Not just notice it but to scrutinize, engage with it even love it.

I understand plants growing in cracks, abandoned in the alleyways. There aren't necessarily loved but they are allowed to live.

The dandelions in the lawn should be so lucky.

I've felt neglected wanting to be noticed. I've hid fearful I'd be 'weeded'.

I understand ruins. I'm slowly but assuredly falling apart. I'll die twice. Once when I return to dust. Finally when I'm forgotten. I have no children. These ruins will not be rebuilt. What remains?

I've taken pictures of lobelia holding on to rock in Tra Li, Ireland. Shrubs growing on the roofs in Costa Rica. Plants out-of-place wherever I see them. Some I have rescued. My orange kolanchue and pink geraniums, blooming on this cloudy day, attest to that.

I stop to smell whatever is in bloom.

I 'see' although my eyes are weak; smell although my smeller barely works; touch because my hands long to feel the smooth and rough.

I've 'immortalized' the fleeting in poems.

I'm not dead yet.
