After the Pandemic

After the pandemic nothing
will be the same as it was before!

What will the new normal be like?
No one can say for sure.

We can only hope
and pray
that humanity will see
the oneness
of the species,
and the interconnectedness
of the planet.

The new normal must begin
at the grass root level,
growing tall and strong--
like a redwood tree--
until it boughs and leaves
become an organic part
of every individual,
nation,
and branch of government.

Those of us who survive the pandemic
must feed and water the new normal
with our hopes,
our prayers,
and our actions;
we must be reborn,
and put behind us the prejudice
and fears of our past.

Can we do this?
