Jesus said, "Obey or I will kill you."( Luke 19:27) |
In Jesus' time, it was moral to blame people for their diseases. The Apostles queried Jesus, "Is this man blind because of the sins of his parents?" And Jesus said, "No." Jesus explained that the man had been born blind so that he could heal him and demonstrate his divine power. Jesus took some mud and spit in it, then he smeared the mud on the man's eyelids... Miraculously, the man could see. This tells us that the people in those times believed in inherited sin. This is why Jesus' bloodline is so important. How could Jesus be without sin if he was descendant from Adam's sinful bloodline? Even if his mother did not know a man, she was descendant of Original Sin. Catholics believe in the virgin birth and a sinless Mary. This is a cannon doctrine of the faith. That means you do not question it or face excommunication. Even though Mary had a mother and father, she was not born with Original Sin. Accordingly, God performed a miracle absolving the virgin Mary of Original Sin. That is the doctrine of the faith.+ All of which is founded on a belief in inherited sin. But, Catholics also believe in free will...(?) How can you have free will and Original Sin? God condemned all of Adam's seed. Nevertheless, Catholics believe Jesus absolved Original Sin with his martyrdom. How are we responsible for our sins? Well, there are two kinds of sinning in the Catholic faith. One is Orignal Sin and is absolved in the baptism of Catholic babies. The second is a choice made at the age of reason. Catholics are baptized a second time at the age of reason. They are asked if they want to be Catholic and if they say yes that is their Confirmation. This, therefore, allows Catholics to make an informed choice to be good or naughty. Reflections~Genetist assert that we are programmed by our DNA and have no free will. Oy. Vertago |
