I am going to go for a stretch her and use some lyrics. I hope that is okay. I am making the transition from last month's Soundtrack of my Life blog to this one. The poem, or lyric, in this case, that best describes my mood today is... Francesca Battistelli's Keep Me Guessing. I have included the YouTube video as well.

It is Sunday and I am in a worship song mood. So this one speaks to me on so many levels. As of late, I have been seeking... well, maybe I have always been a seeker, but right now I am trying to integrate my Christian views with meditation. I believe I am making some headway.

Spirit lives in us. It is God's gift to us. This Spirit, the Holy Spirit, was bestowed on us after Jesus died on the cross.

With Sajaha Yoga it is believed that this Energy, or Spirit or Chi, resides within the sacrum bone at the base of our pelvis. (Sacrum sounds like sacred). When we are born, it is placed there and children (up to 12 when the frontal bones of your head close) are very open to the experience of living in the moment - this is the gift of Spirit. As we age, we tend to close off and we need to reawaken this energy. We can do this by practicing mindful awareness and meditating.

That may sound all so New Agey, but I have come to understand that what I perceive is similar to other spiritual practices, but is just called something different.

With meditation, we experience moments of enlightenment and connection to something far greater than ourselves. We can ask that something - either Spirit, Chi or Energy - to help us with a concern. This is similar to prayer and letting it go and letting God deal with it.

This song reminds me that God is in control and I can let go and let him guide me. That does not mean I throw up my hands and sit vacantly. It means I keep the lines of communication open, I work with the energy (or Spirit) that flows through me, and I listen to the still small voice. Then I act. By stepping back and listening to something far Greater, I am able to feel more at peace with the decisions of my life. God wants the best for me... but to know what that is, I need to tune in. "I don't know how the story ends, but I'll be alright cause you own it, I don't know where the highway bends, but I'm doing just fine, cause your're in control even when I don't know where my life's gonna go."
