Where Did the Dreams Go?--The Bop
I struggled and I struggled but I could not seem
to close my eyes, to sleep, to dream.
With Facebook, Writing.Com, and caffeine,
I just couldn't do it. What could it mean?
The lights were turned down nice and low
but where on earth did the dreams go?
With plenty of lullabies and sheep to count.
I would give anything for snores--any amount.
I rested my head, I snuggled in tight.
I closed my eyes, but no rest was in sight.
I must arise early, I need to sleep NOW!
But alas, no such luck, no z's allowed.
I put on some music, calm and slow
but where on earth did the dreams go?
The night ticked away, the minutes and hours,
with me wide awake, despite all of my powers.
When it finally happened, and the snoozes rolled in
the alarm clock sounded, it was time for the day to begin
I'd slept soundly for two whole minutes, but oh
where on earth did the dreams go?
