A Cold Glass of Water

A Cold Glass of Water

The chill
of a froze lake
flows over my tongue
and descends my throat
bringing back memories of my childhood.

Like my grandmother,
I put ice in the glass
before turning on the facet
and fill the glass with water.

There are those
who refuse to drink Las Vegas water,
because it taste weird,
but if you put ice in the glass--
not a plastic tumbler--
the taste of the water
isn't noticeable.
