Volcano

I am proof
the the earth is a living
and evolving planet.

My hot blood flow
onto the surrounding land
and into the cold ocean.

My cooled lava
enriches the soil
and may increase an island's size.

Mechanical Echoes

The mechanical echoes
of modern civilization
reverberate through the city,
as the weary legions
of mail carriers
rise to meet the day.

The heartrate of the city
increases,
with the ascending sun.

The captains of industry
enter their offices,
pretending that
all is well,
while their employees appear
to accept the deception.

Subconsciously,
everyone knows that
death is a triangle
respecting neither human
nor business entities.

As they listen to the city's
mechanical echoes,
they wonder
if their jobs
will be part of the Grim Reaper's
next selections.
