Momentary Disruptions in the Space-Time Continuum
Momentary Disruptions
in the Space-Time Continuum

Dissolving into the aroma,
I return to experience
my first cup of black coffee.

Coffee poured
into a heavy white restaurant cup,
without the cooling effect of cream and sugar,
looked like a starless night;
tasted like nectar of the gods.

Melting into the flavor,
I return to experience
my first slice of watermelon.

Cut for a melon picked
in Grandpa Frank's garden,
it was cold as an Oklahoma winter,
sweet as freshly harvested hive honey.

Merging with the music,
I returned to experience
my first gospel song.

Intoned by an all white congregation,
in a Southern Baptist Mission,
on the wrong side of the tracks
it awoke the desire to meet Christ in the air.

Becoming the material,
I return to experience
my first touch of real silk.

Bought at an Estate Sale,
it originally came from Korea,
it was soft as a spring breeze,
pretty as fall leaves.

Entering the video,
I return to experience
my only trip to New York.

The plane arrived
in the middle of the night,
to reveal the city aglow;
New York's bridges
were lit up like Christmas Trees
on Christmas Eve.
