The tasks of life drone on
meeting life each day,
serving as we go,
honor and obey.
The weary heart needs rest
meeting life each day,
serving as we go,
in grace, each gift lay.
We ask, "Do I succeed,
meeting life each day,
serving as we go,
doing what I say?"
It's hard to see the hope,
meeting life each day,
serving as we go,
needing strength to pray.
Each passing day speeds up,
meeting life each day,
serving as we go,
one less day's display.
Our movements, though, slow down,
meeting life each day,
serving as we go,
struggles in the way.
Strength of youth as rabbit,
meeting life each day,
serving as we go,
Wisdom's help we, "Nay!"
Now, the wise one lumbers,
meeting life each day,
serving as we go,
Charley Horse says, "Neigh!"
Innertube is rounder,
meeting life each day,
serving as we go,
"Exercise!" Okay.
Youthful runner's running,
meeting life each day,
serving as we go,
munching oats and hay.
"Birdseed" bloats the aging,
meeting life each day,
serving as we go,
flab we would allay.
Comb the roof, Windows clean,
meeting life each day,
serving as we go,
Middle-Age cliché.
Middle spread, thinner dates,
meeting life each day,
serving as we go,
saying, "I'm okay!"
Perspective's hard to see,
meeting life each day,
serving as we go,
snifting work's bouquet.
When the last tale is told,
meeting life each day,
serving as we go,
waiting near gateway,
Will this soul bring honor,
meeting life each day,
serving as we go,
plane on last runway?
The Lord is pleased with trust,
meeting life each day,
serving as we go,
Master to obey.
