Look at humanity,
with the eyes of faith,
and see unity.

Do you sometimes look in other people’s eyes and imagine who they may be and what they may have done with their lives? Also, do you think this is what most poets and writers do?

Eyes

Eyes stare at humanity,
what do they see?

Do they,
like me,
see the soul beneath
writhing in pain
or dancing in joy?

Do they see humanity
a single species,
or do they see people divided
by the walls of religion,
color,
gender,
age,
political affiliation,
or nation?

What do other people see,
when they look into the eyes
of humanity?
